The second annual Hansen’s Central Valley Corvettes President’s Mystery Run is now in the record book. Thirteen cars including twenty-six members shoved off to points unknown on Monday September 29 and returned home Friday afternoon October 3. Those taking part included Dale and Sue Comer, Charlie and Kim Fosnaugh, Pat and Patricia Garrahan, Glenn and Lorraine Henderson, Mike and Lynne Henenfent, Mike and Mary Lebda, Herb and Freida Null, Fred and Terri Parks, Gary and Jan Pflepsen, Steve and Jill Rosen, Skip and Leigh Ann Severance, Del and Sue Walker and Craig and Pam Hansen. On the first day we headed up the peninsula to the Presidio in San Francisco for a guided tour of the Disney Family Museum. Following lunch it was over the Golden Gate to the Benbow Inn, located just south of Garberville. The Benbow is a historic lodge built in 1926. That evening Freida Null began serving up unlimited margaritas as we sat from a deck overlooking the Eel River. The following day we took a beautiful drive on the old 101 highway now known as the Avenue of the Giants. This scenic two-lane route takes you up close and personal with the giant Redwood trees. We took the trail at the Founders Grove and walked amongst trees one and a half times the height of the Del Webb building. Another stunning drive was through the Rockefeller Grove where day turns into night as you drive under the dense forest of 2,000 year old, 370 feet tall trees. After a quick drive through Rio Dell on the State Route 183, the shortest highway in California, we made our way to Ferndale for lunch at the Victorian Inn and some shopping. Later that day we returned to the Benbow Inn. On day three we headed south to Leggett where all the cars drove through the Chandelier Tree to set the stage for our upcoming 2015 calendar. Then it was time to hit Highway 1 and head out to the sweeping Pacific Ocean. We stopped in Mendocino for lunch and more shopping before our next stay at the Little River Inn and enjoyed our group dinner overlooking the ocean. Day four saw us travel down Highway 1 with a group photo stop at the Point Arena Lighthouse, lunch at the “Tides Inn” in Bodega Bay, a jaunt up to Bodega to see the old schoolhouse used in the movie “The Birds,” and then down to Tomales Bay for our final night at Point Reyes Seashore Lodge in Olema. With the margarita supply exhausted and not wanting to tire out Freida, we enjoyed a quiet evening in the garden while some played games and others watched football. Our last day saw us continue on Highway 1 through Stinson Beach and over to the Golden Gate Bridge where we ended up at 11am in Santa Clara for a private tour of the new San Francisco 49ers home, Levi’s Stadium. It was a great tour as we visited the upscale lounge, press box, one of the suites, the visitors’ locker room, the 49er Goldrush cheerleaders locker room, then down on the field and finally into the Hall of Fame Museum. After an action packed week, we headed for home and arrived around 6pm on Friday October 3. Pam and I want to give special thanks to Dale and Sue Comer for helping us put this run on. As mentioned a big thank you to Freida Null and we want to thank all those who went with us. At our next meeting on October 21, we will fill in some of the other details of our adventure. Pam Hansen, Vice President of Activities had run leaders report on their pervious runs of Diciccos Dinner Run, , Day at the race track, and El Cid Dinner Run, and the future runs of Presidents Mystery Run, Fairwinds Corvette Car Show, Sanger Queen Haul, Pizza, Poker & Domino Party, Firebaugh Queen Haul, Toys for Tots, Christmas Party and Christmas Hayride were discussed. Lupe Dawson, Sergeant at Arms collected $1.25. Central Valley Corvettes General Meeting Minutes September 16, 2014 The General Meeting was called to order at 6:31pm by President Craig Hansen. The minutes from the August general meeting were read by Kim Fosnaugh. Correction was noted that Fred Parks had also termed out of his position. LeighAnn Severance made a motion to accept the minutes as read with the corrections and was seconded by David Sons. Our Parliamentarian, Linda Laningham handed out Board Member nomination forms which will also be provided at the October meeting. She announced the Nomination Committee of Charlotte Renna, Freida Null, Keith Garrison, Patrick Garrison and herself. Members will vote at the November 18 th General Meeting and new Board Members will be installed at the December General Meeting. Teri Parks gave the Treasurer’s report in the absence of Fred Parks with no questions. Membership Chairman, Charlie Fosnaugh let us know we currently have 86 members. Skip Severance, Vice President of Public Relations reviewed the September Birthdays and Anniversaries and important happenings on their dates. Jan Pflepsen reported on the happenings of our members. Old Business: None. New Business: Craig reminded everyone that there will be another chance to nominate members for Board positions at the October meeting. The next Board meeting will be held September 23rd at the Fosnaugh’s. The next General meeting will be October 21st. Scott Parkin motioned to adjourn the meeting and was seconded by Chuck Laningham.
