3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION Part 1: Colorless to Brown liquid that contains Hydroquinone and Potassium Hydroxide. HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED, CAUSES SKIN AND EYE IRRITATION AND MAY CAUSE ALLERGIC SKIN REACTION. HMIS Hazard Rating: Flammability - 0, Reactivity - 0, Health - 1, Protection - B Part 2: Off-white to pale yellow liquid. FIRST AID MEASURES Inhalation: Move to fresh air, obtain medical attention if required. Eye Contact: Hold eyelids apart and immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention. Skin Contact: Immediately flush with plenty of water while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Launder contaminated clothes prior to reuse. Discard contaminated shoes. Part 1: Wash with a non-alkaline (acid) skin cleaner, if skin irritation or an allergic skin reaction develops get medical attention. Part 2: If skin irritation or an allergic skin reaction develops get medical attention. Working Solution: If skin irritation or an allergic skin reaction develops get medical attention. Ingestion: Part 1: Induce vomiting as directed by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Obtain medical care and hospital treatment immediately. Part 2: Induce vomiting as directed by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Obtain medical care and hospital treatment immediately. Working Solution: Drink 1 - 2 glasses of water, get medical attention. 5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Extinguishing Media: Water spray, dry chemical, and carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) or alcohol foam. Equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes. Hazardous Combustion Products: Excessive heat may produce hazardous decomposition products. Part 1: Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and oxides of sulfur. 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Flush to sewer with large amount of water - May require neutralization if pH below 3 or above 12. Part 1: pH below 12 Part 2: pH 3 Working Solution: pH 10.0 - 10.5. Otherwise, absorb spill with vermiculite or other suitable absorbent and place in impervious container for disposal in an approved and permitted landfill. Clean area thoroughly to remove residual contamination. 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Store between 10 - 25 o C (50 - 80 o F). Protect shipments from freezing (Keep above 4.4 o C (40 o F)) 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION Exposure Limits: ACGIH Threshold Limit Value (TLV) Hydroquinone: 2 mg/m 3 Ceiling OSHA Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL) Hydroquinone: 2 mg/m 3 Ceiling Potassium Hydroxide: 2 mg/m 3 Ceiling Engineering Controls: Good general ventilation (10 room volumes per hour) should be sufficient to control airborne levels below recommended exposure limits when product is used as intended. If product is used in any other manner local exhaust ventilation may be necessary to control any air contaminants, to within their TLV's during the use of this product. Eye Protection: Chemical splash goggles or face shield. Skin Protection: Nitrile rubber gloves suitable for Parts 1, 2 & Working Strengths Solutions. 9.
