enhanced performance <strong>on</strong> the implicature<br />
task. Furthermore this pragmatic advantage<br />
seemed to be attributable to a n<strong>on</strong>-linguistic<br />
c<strong>on</strong>sequence of bilingualism.<br />
• bilinguals were not found to display superior<br />
attenti<strong>on</strong>al skills and attenti<strong>on</strong>al ability did not<br />
appear to relate to implicature appreciati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
• the validity of the attenti<strong>on</strong>al assessments<br />
used in this study<br />
