This learning guide is an outcome of a Workshop on <strong>Evidence</strong>-based <strong>Advocacy</strong> for Gender Equity and<br />
Equality in <strong>Education</strong> held in Bangkok, Thailand, 8-12 September 2009. The workshop was attended by<br />
participants from nine countries from the East-Asia Pacific region, namely, Cambodia, Lao DPR,<br />
Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Viet Nam. Resource<br />
persons were invited from the Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult <strong>Education</strong> (ASPBAE),<br />
UNESCO, UNICEF and Save the Children. The East Asia and Pacific Regional UNGEI Working Group (EAP<br />
UNGEI) wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to all participants and resource persons, both during and<br />
after the workshop, for their substantive contributions to the format, the detailed structure of the<br />
report, and the compilation of the resource list. Special thanks also to valued resource persons present<br />
at the GENIA Toolkit Expert Review Workshop that was concurrently running with this workshop. Their<br />
guidance and technical contributions enriched the contents of this guide.<br />
This report was prepared by Chemba Raghavan, the lead facilitator of the workshop, without whose<br />
dedication to UNGEI’s mission, this guide would not have materialized. The guide is based on the content<br />
of the presentations and discussions at the workshop, with extensive review and inputs provided by<br />
technical experts and professionals – past and present– representing partner agencies within the East<br />
