Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation The Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation (BBAHC) provides health care for the Bristol Bay Region. Its Community Health Aides provide continuing primary health care and emergency medical services in the villages. Health Aides provide preventive and health surveillance services to include prenatal care, well child exams, and school age fluoride treatments. Patients who require further treatment are referred to the health corporation’s Kanakanak Hospital. Kanakanak Hospital is a 16 bed facility that serves patients of all ages in the area of medical care, pediatrics, obstetrics, well baby, out-patients, skilled and observational beds, swing beds, home health, community health, infant learning, maternal-child health, emergency room, WIC, mental health, and drug and alcohol services. Ancillary support services include: audiology, dental, diabetes, laboratory, medevac, optometry, radiology, social services, and specialty clinics. Patients requiring care not provided at Kanakanak are referred to other regional medical facilities including Alaska Native Medical Center for those that are of Native descent.
