This ACU has been factory tested for electrical
performance including return loss, gain, and
RET communication
In the event of a system error message, it
should be isolated from the BSA radio and retested
again (before RMA / DOA process is
started).
ACU Quick Test Guide
Use to validate a possible field failure. RFS recommended
troubleshooting hardware is required. If this process indicates a
valid failure, product should be replaced. On any Antenna/ACU
(RET Motor) failure based on OSS indicators, Isolate the Antenna
from the complete radio system and attach to the ACU (RET motor)
using an RFS Protocol adapter and AISG cable.
Then, using a computer running RFS NEM-ALD-A software (rev
3.2.1 or newer) follow the remaining test process steps.
Based on the following screen shot, verify the following:
o Is the “Antenna Model Number” that of the antenna
it’s attached to? If not, use “Antenna Configuration
Data” to select antenna model and “Set” to update.
o Is the ACU model number correct (ACU-A20-N)? If
this is not correct, the ACU will need to be returned
via RMA to RFS.
o Is the status indicator GREEN?
“Alarm List” tab to identify alarm.
If RED, check
o Is the software version 2.52? If incorrect, use RET
software download (9600 baud) to upgrade to
correct version.
Execute the “Self Test” under the AISG commands
section. If the system returns “Self Test was
successfully executed”, then the ACU/Antenna is
likely OK and the fault is somewhere else in the
system other than the antenna/ret combination. If the
Self Test fails, the material should be returned for
replacement. Include this check sheet as support for
the RMA.
Upon completion of this checklist, if all tests are
indicating OK then the ACU/RET motor (and antenna)
should be returned to operation, as the system fault
is located somewhere other than the ACU.
