CAPE PENINSULA MARATHON <strong>2013</strong>
RACE RULES<br />
& HALF MARATHON<br />
1. The <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Peninsula</strong> <strong>Marathon</strong> is run in accordance with the rules of ASA and WPA.<br />
2. The <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Peninsula</strong> <strong>Marathon</strong> and Half <strong>Marathon</strong> are open to all licenced and non-licenced runners of 16 years and older for the<br />
Half <strong>Marathon</strong> and 20 years and older for the <strong>Marathon</strong>.<br />
3. Licenced runners must wear club colours. Official event race numbers to be worn on the front and a <strong>2013</strong> licence number on the<br />
back of the vest.<br />
4. Temporary licences are available at R35 for the 21.1km and R40 for the 42.2km events.<br />
5. Temporary licenced participants are eligible for age category prizes provided they enter the relevant age group, wear the<br />
appropriate age tags and provide proof of age. Club colours must be worn to qualify for team prizes.<br />
6. Unlicenced runners must wear plain clothes (no advertising permitted). Official event race number to be worn on the front and the<br />
temporary licence number on the back.<br />
7. Personal seconding is not permitted, except at official refreshment points. Private vehicles are requested not to follow the athletes<br />
on the route.<br />
8. In addition to overall (Open) prizes, participants will only be eligible for an age category prize in the age category they enter.<br />
Corresponding numerical age category tags must be worn on the front and back of their club vest. Participants may enter the age<br />
category corresponding to their chronological age or any younger category down to senior.<br />
9. Athletes competing for a category prize must wear age category tags (on the front and the back).<br />
10. No swopping of race numbers as the race number is linked to your name and finishing time and may result in your disqualification.<br />
11. Juniors must provide proof of age to qualify for prize money.<br />
12. Juniors (born from 1994 onwards) wearing junior or senior licence must wear an age category tag “J” to qualify for age group prizes.<br />
13. All traffic officers and marshals must be obeyed.<br />
14. Proof of age is required for category prizes.<br />
15. The race organisers reserve the right to accept or reject any entry.<br />
16. Foreign athletes must comply with IAAF rule 4.2 and all relevant race and domestic rules. The athletes must be able to produce the<br />
letter from his/her federation permitting participation on race day.<br />
17. The entry fee is non-refundable.<br />
18. Kilometre markers will be placed at each kilometre mark.<br />
19. Refreshments stations will be situated approximately every 3km.<br />
20. Medals will be handed to all finishers.<br />
21. There will be a tog bag truck at the start of the 42.2km & 21.1km. These vehicles will deliver the bags to the finish in Simon’s Town.<br />
22. Toilets will be available.<br />
23. Parking is available at the finish.<br />
24. Prize-Giving will take place at 12h25.<br />
25. Results will be available on www.topevents.co.za.<br />

ROAD CLOSURES:<br />
1. Main Road, Green Point – From York Road to Three Anchor Bay Road (05h15 – 05h45)<br />
2. Main Road, Muizenberg – From Atlantic Road to the turn off to Boyes Drive, Kalk Bay. Traffic will only be permitted towards<br />
<strong>Cape</strong> Town. All traffic going towards Fish Hoek will be diverted over Boyes Drive (07h30 – 09h30).<br />
3. Main Road & Ladies Mile, Bergvliet – For 15 minutes from 07h00 – 07h15 during the start of the Half <strong>Marathon</strong>.<br />
CHARITY:<br />
The Beth Uriel Home, House of Light, was established in 1987 as a direct response to the tremendous increase in<br />
marginalized youth. Young adults between the ages of 15 to 22 years, who realise how ill equipped they were to cope with<br />
life’s demands and who are committed to building a future for themselves are being assisted by means of a<br />

Pink Drive: Cause Marketing Fundraisers (CMF) is a non-profit organisation and, through our Pink Drive campaign, we are<br />
committed to improving breast cancer awareness, education, and providing and offering services to women across South Africa,<br />
particularly to those who do not have access to information on breast health. We currently have two mobile breast units, an<br />
education unit working in approximately 80 community health centres in Gauteng and a mammography unit, which operates<br />
at 3 community health centres in the <strong>Cape</strong> Town area, under the Tygerberg Hospital jurisdiction.<br />
