Motion Put Forth By Andrew Vernon Regarding The street stud Class and spec
tire for the 2014 season …
Tires
Two tire options allowed for 2014 race season, either Sailun Ice Blazer WST1 or
Hankook iPike RC01. Tires will be studded using Bruno Wessel TSMI #13 LWS
9MM (pressed) stud. Any tires still running Bruno Wessel TSMI #13 9mm stud
(sintered) will be grandfathered in. Stud pocket depth shall not be modified in
any way. Studs may not be modified in any way.
Stud Count
Full studding of any spec tire will be allowed.
Studding
Studding is allowed by all racers or third parties. Studding will be available by
either the Minden Canadian Tire or by the series scrutineer for a cost of $18 per
tire.
Glue
Gluing of studs is allowed, limited by the stipulation that the glue added does not
alter the stud pocket depth .
Enforcement
Once per weekend, after any given SS race, the top three class finishers will be
pulled aside after their race and have a stud pulled from one of their drive tires
to verify that the stud is within spec. This means a maximum of six studs over
the course of the season for any one car.
Penalties
First offence - points taken away for weekend
Second offence - season ban.
All six separate motions were voted on, seconded and passed unanimously.
Motion put forth by Carol Lane, Steve Robson, Bryan Rashleigh,
Jonathan Rashleigh and Ken Shaw. To combine class 2 and 3, and also 12
and 13, to allow all front drive cars to run together in they’re own race. These
two races will be once again known as class 2 and class 12 on the schedule.
Motion seconded by Lisa Shaw …and carried.
Motion put forth by Victor Del Col to allow engines above 3000cc in modified
class.
Seconded by Ian MacIntyre …Carried.
Other clarifications to the rulebook by Victor will be carried out by the Ice Race
Director as part of Rulebook “housekeeping’.
Motion put forth by Larry Laycock with regard to defining in the rule book,
what constitutes a pass under a yellow flag/light. This was left up to the Ice
Race Director to make changes in the rule book to define this contentious issue.
Motion put forth by Shane Hutton to split SS1 and SS4 in the schedule. After
much discussion and debate it was voted on. With 13 for the motion and 11
against the motion was carried, and with many abstainers it was once again left
up to the Ice Race Director to figure this out.
Motion put forth by Paul Einerson to implement a rule that states that all race
cars must have a solid tow hook or equivalent at both the front and rear of the
vehicle. This motion was carried unanimously and made mandatory.
New Business …
It was discussed at length as to how we would promote our sport to bring
our entries back up to the levels of years past. It was decided to get the
individual clubs involved in promotion as well as more media contact.
The Minden Kinsmen will have no increases in fees for the 2014 season.
Online registration was discussed and we will see how this goes in the summer
season with various other divisions before committing.
The possibility of studded Go-Karts as another class was discussed to bring our
numbers up. The subject quickly turned to Insurance and a classification by ASN
on this class. It was discussed that any entrant must be at least sixteen years of
age and hold a valid Ontario driver’s license, as well as a basic CASC race license.
After much debate it was decided that any interested parties that wish to hold a
trial race or series on the Family day Monday in February of 2014 do so with
proof of said insurance, naming all the regular additional insured by the start of
the 2014 season. Such proof will be made available to the CASC and Minden
Kinsmen.
Motion to adjourn was made by Heather Peckham – Hughes, seconded by Dale
Turton. Meeting was adjourned at 10:27am.
