Thursday, November 22, 2012 Clinton County Clinton News County - Big News Blue Preview Page 13 Seniors: Hannah Campbell Hannah is the other half of our senior duo, who provides us with valuable experience. She is one of our better outside shooters and is starting to gain confidence in her abilities. To become a complete player Hannah needs to improve her ball handling skills and defensive toughness. Justice Boils Justice is one of our two seniors and has shown great improvement over the past year of playing. She gives us a strong post presence, is an excellent passer and shots the ball well from 15 feet. Another quality that Justice has is her leadership qualities, and with such a young team this is an absolute must. One area that she needs to improve on is her footwork in the post, which last year caused her to commit several turnovers. Juniors: Alex Beard Alex is a player that gives us a lot of flexibility in our lineup since she has the ability to play multiple positions. She has proven to be our most consistent and effective outside shooter and we expect her offensive numbers to increase this season as her physical stamina has improved since last year. We need Alex to stay aggressive on the floor at all times. She sometimes gets caught watching the game. Whitney Bookout She is one of the best athletes on the team, who really excels in an open court game. Whitney has the ability to get to the rim and the free throw line with ease. She needs to work on her ball handling skills as well as playing every second hard. Tara Elmore Tara finished last year on a high note with her best game coming in the district tournament. If she picks up where she left off Tara could be a player who enables us to enjoy team success. Her strongest asset is offensive rebounding but also her biggest weakness is her consistent work ethic. Sophomores: Shyanne McWhorter She is one of the hardest workers on the team who always guards our opponents best offensive player. Shyanne has improved her overall guard skills which will allow her to play some minutes at the PG position. Her biggest area for improvement is to develop a reliable jump shot. Ansley Stalcup Played mostly PG last year and led the team in assists per game as well as doing a nice job scoring-wise for us. Would like to play Ansley some this year at the 2 guard spot to take advantage of her well-rounded offensive skills. For her to become the best player she possibly can be, her decision making skills must improve. Freshmen: Kayla Dicken She went from seldom playing to having a breakout game against Pulaski County where she earned double figures in points and rebounds. She is a player that will be counted on to provide depth to our front court. Look for Kayla to have a big year if she continues to work hard and improve on her shooting percentage. Cori Langford Another versatile player who is capable of playing many different positions on the floor. With her size, she can create matchup problems for opposing guards and when playing the post her quickness and ball handling skills allows her to take advantage of other teams post players. Cori must start trusting her abilities and gain confidence in herself. Eighth Grade: Bree Boils One of many of our talented 8th grade class who will be expected to give the team valuable minutes at the PG position. Bree is a strong physical guard who can get to the basket with ease, her main point of improvement is using her weak hand with greater proficiency which will lead to her having more scoring opportunities and reducing her turnovers. Macy Campbell Also a talented young guard who worked her way into the starting lineup last season providing us with another scoring option. She was beginning to play with more confidence last season when she suffered an unfortunate knee injury. Came back and played well this summer but showed signs of early fatigue. That is something that we can correct, but Macy must now work on regaining confidence in her own abilities and hopefully stay healthy. Makenzie Polston Another young inside player who works extremely hard to make herself the complete basketball player. She has a high basketball IQ and always finds herself around the basketball. Makenzie is one of the best rebounders on the team, but must work on her outside shooting range. Allee Hopper A young post player who, if she continues to work hard, could see some valuable minutes this season. Plays with a strong physical presence but must work on her footwork and post skills to reach her full potential. If she does that, it will not only make her better but the team better as well. Sixth Grade: Joelie Hicks At only a 6th grader, Joelie will be the youngest member of the varsity team this year.. Her biggest asset is her confidence in herself and her own abilities, however, she needs to work on getting her shot off quicker and becoming more comfortable with her left hand.
