PEQLAB's bio <strong>imaging</strong> <strong>systems</strong> meet<br />

HIGHEST SENSITIVITY<br />

Sensitivity is the key feature of a great<br />

<strong>imaging</strong> system, but depends on the<br />

harmonised interplay of multiple components<br />

like sensor, objective and darkroom.<br />

Especially the detection of faint<br />

fluorescence and chemiluminescence<br />

signals poses high challenges to sensitivity<br />

and <strong>imaging</strong> properties of an optical<br />

system. Only high tech monochromatic<br />

CCD sensors meet these demands, as<br />

they not only exhibit highest sensitivity,<br />

but also lowest background noise. All of<br />

PEQLAB's <strong>imaging</strong> <strong>systems</strong> are equipped<br />

only with specially manufactured 'scientific<br />

grade' CCD sensors and possess<br />

extremely light intense objectives. This<br />

highly coordinated top-quality hardware<br />

guarantees a maximum of image definition<br />

and fidelity. Additionally, with the<br />

usage of special lens <strong>systems</strong>, unwanted<br />

side effects like vignetting and image<br />

contortions are completely eliminated.<br />

LOWEST BACKGROUND<br />

Highest sensitivity can only be realised in<br />

combination with very low background<br />

noise, as otherwise faint signal would<br />

be overshadowed. Background noise<br />

is caused on the one hand thermically<br />

by infrared (IR) signals and on the other<br />

hand during the sensor readout by faintest<br />

leakage currents. PEQLAB‘s <strong>imaging</strong><br />

sys tems excel with lowest background<br />

noise due to their highly efficient double<br />

cooling system that constantly cools CCD<br />

sensor and camera chamber to reduce<br />

IR-noise. Continuing improvements in the<br />

field of cameras optics and optimisation<br />

of sensor readout complete the reduction<br />

of background noise.<br />

Moreover, PEQLAB‘s high quality darkrooms<br />

contribute to absolute background<br />

signal diminuition by totally eliminating<br />

interfering light and inner surface reflections.<br />

The darkrooms are fitted with<br />

special gaskets that guarantee pitch<br />

dark sealing, ban any light incidence<br />

and are internally lacquered with a<br />

special gap-free black anti-reflection<br />

coating. Another advantage of our <strong>systems</strong><br />

is the adjustable filter wheel and an extendable<br />

UV-table for preparative use.<br />

UV tables by PEQLAB impress with a<br />

very low heat build-up and a highly<br />

homogenous illumination. For most sensitive<br />

applications that demand a maximum<br />

contrast and minimal background<br />

'glow', the exclusive SUPER-BRIGHT<br />

UV tables are available. The innovative<br />

SUPER-BRIGHT technology minimises<br />

background 'glow' and displays exceptional<br />

homogeneity at the same time.<br />

This enables detection and quantification<br />

even of the faintest signals.<br />

INTUITIVE SOFTWARE<br />

Our purpose is to generate high quality<br />

image date that is a 1:1 reproduction of<br />

reality. Substantial scientific statements<br />

should only be based on unmodified<br />

raw-data. Possible modifications of<br />

any image raw data should always be<br />

under the user's control. Without exception<br />

our <strong>imaging</strong> <strong>systems</strong> and software<br />

were designed to fulfil the premise of<br />

highest data fidelity and integrity. The<br />

included licence-free software enables<br />

camera control, network compliance,<br />

image analysis and post-processing.<br />

Well arranged and intuitively to use,<br />

our software offers all functions that are<br />

needed to objectively and definitely<br />

evaluate the image data integrity and<br />

quality. Also for more sophisticated analyses<br />

like e.g. automatic lane detection,<br />

molecular weight and signal intensity<br />

calculations substantial software modules<br />

are already pre-installed.<br />

For even more complex analyses we<br />

also offer the <strong>Bio</strong>-1D software suite with<br />

many additional functions like e.g. densiometric<br />

quantifications and calculation<br />

of the apparent molecular weight. Of<br />

course we also offer network-licences<br />

(5-50) of the <strong>Bio</strong>-1D software for MS<br />

Windows Server.<br />
