Issues: Representation of
Foreign/Inbound Clients
Foreign companies wishing to establish a presence in the
United States face many of the same issues as any other
domestic, start-up companies. However, by their very nature,
foreign organizations face unique, special issues that must be
addressed in establishing their operations in the United States.
The forces driving the decision to establish a U.S. presence are
different and the manner of entry into the U.S. market varies as
a function of those forces. Decisions which are made, both legal
and operational, are crucial to the successful establishment,
growth and operation of a new entity, especially relative to the
establishment of a manufacturing facility and/or a nationwide
sales/distribution organization. Select issues facing newly
organized U.S. subsidiaries of foreign based companies will be
the focus of the presentation.
19th Annual Pro Bono
& Community Service Fair
The Chicago Bar Foundation • Kirkland & Ellis LLP
Join Chicago’s pro bono stars on October 23 and
learn how you can make a difference in the lives of
others! According to the Illinois Legal Needs Study,
approximately 80% of all civil legal needs of the poor
you can help!
In its 19th year, the CBA Young Lawyers Section Pro
Bono and Community Service Fair allows attorneys to
make meaningful connections with legal and nonlegal
public service agencies. Many organizations
require volunteers to make just a small time
commitment – perhaps just an hour or two a month or
one Saturday afternoon – so you can find an opportunity
that fits your schedule. Best of all, the event is a fun,
casual opportunity to network with other attorneys,
enjoy a snack, and meet new friends!
A list of organizations that will be in attendance will be
available at www.chicagobar.org/probonoweek.
Date: Tuesday, October 23, 2012
