RITE AID RAISING FUNDS FOR CHILDREN’S MIRACLE<br />

NETWORK HOSPITALS THROUGH MAY 19<br />

New Mobile and Social Giving Options Available in Addition to the<br />

Traditional $1 Paper Miracle Balloons Sold in Stores<br />

SALT LAKE CITY (March 29, 2012)—Beginning April 1, Rite Aid will kick off its 18th annual Miracle<br />

Balloon campaign in support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®, a charity that raises <strong>funds</strong> <strong>for</strong><br />

170 <strong>children's</strong> <strong>hospitals</strong> <strong>through</strong>out North America. Donations will stay in the community in which they<br />

were raised to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital serving that community.<br />

Customers are invited to support their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital by buying a $1 paper<br />

Miracle Balloon at any Rite Aid. In appreciation, customers who purchase a Miracle Balloon will receive<br />

$7 in coupon offers good <strong>for</strong> a variety of popular products sold at Rite Aid. The campaign runs <strong>through</strong><br />

May 19.<br />

For the first time, customers can text “RAKIDS” to 50555* to donate $5 to Children's Miracle Network<br />

Hospitals. Rite Aid Facebook fans can also make a pledge to support their local Children’s Miracle<br />

Network Hospital and share the pledge with their social <strong>network</strong>s. If 10,000 pledges are made, the Rite<br />

Aid Foundation will donate an additional $10,000 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.<br />

In 2011, Rite Aid raised $4.5 million to fund life-saving medical care, equipment and research as well as<br />

education and outreach programs at nearly 100 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the communities<br />

where Rite Aid operates. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals use the money raised by Rite Aid to<br />

provide critical care, purchase life-saving equipment, fund ground-breaking research and cover medical<br />

costs <strong>for</strong> uninsured or underinsured pediatric patients.<br />
