It is both an honour and privilege to
introduce National Executive Council
Annual Report on behalf of the NEC.
The Annual Report contains a brief
synopsis of all the issues covered and
activities carried out at national level on
behalf of our members over the last year.
They vary from the implementation of
Conference policy and where appropriate
the creation of new policy, campaigning
activities such as Serving Quality and
Justice for Agency Workers, and advising
and representing members on issues such as Equality & Diversity,
Health and Safety, Employment Law and Legal Services. It also outlines
the commitment the CWU gives to our representatives and activists in
meeting their Education and Training requirements to gain the skills
to advise and represent our members to a very high standard.
The NEC hopes that members and Branch Officers will find
the Annual report to be an informative document which serves as
a good reference guide to the Union’s work.
I would like to thank the NEC, Officers and all staff for their dedication
and hard work throughout what has been another challenging year.
Their experience and professionalism has ensured that members continue
to receive first class representation. I would also like to take this
opportunity to thank our CWU representatives at all levels whose
dedication and skill is critical in promoting and protecting the interests
of our members.
The CWU is an influential, campaigning union and I am extremely
proud as your National President to continue to play a part in its
success. There is no room for complacency however as we have many
challenges ahead of us. We must therefore remain focussed on the
difficult issues that face us in the coming years if we are to remain the
Union of choice for all workers within the communications industries.
