Linguarama’s Group
Personnel & Pedagogical Unit
The Group Personnel & Pedagogical Unit (GPP) is dedicated to maintaining
and improving the high quality and effectiveness of courses within the
marcus evans linguarama Group.
Quality Assurance
The GPP carries out regular inspections of all marcus evans linguarama centres. This
enables us to monitor the standard of training, to share good practice amongst
centres and to ensure that high quality courses are being delivered.
In-service Training Programmes
The GPP supports marcus evans linguarama in-service training activity. All our centres
provide regular in-service training programmes to update and develop our trainers’
teaching skills.
Specialist Seminars
These seminars, usually organised for a group of employees from one company or
organisation, focus on a specific need, such as Legal English, Presentations, Meetings,
Writing Skills and Cultural Awareness Training.
New for 2011 –
During 2011 we will be introducing Linguarama Connect, our new Online Learning
Platform giving access to a wide and varied range of Business English learning resources.
Linguarama Connect is easy to use, is available whenever you need it and provides
extended learning time to increase your progress. It will guide you to the key areas
of Business English which are relevant to you. The materials will cover:

Each participant on an English in England course has an option to buy a year’s licence
for 12 months’ unlimited access to Linguarama Direct to review and consolidate
English language work after the course. This is combined with a package of 6
telephone lessons with a trainer to ensure effective follow-up to your course.

Any length of course is possible – you can also extend your training with

Usually every Monday but courses can begin on any day of the week or
weekend by arrangement.
Optional Workshops:
All centres offer optional workshops in a variety of skill areas. These include
pronunciation, cultural awareness, writing skills, learning vocabulary, being
diplomatic, marketing and financial English.
Course Types
Business Track courses can be taken in full-time weeks or as a series of separate
training days to fit in with your work schedule.
Power Track programmes are full-day courses from 09:15 to 17:15 including a
working lunch with a trainer. They offer maximum exposure to the target language
and are the most productive way to achieve rapid results.
Fast Track is an intensive programme which leaves more time at the end of each
day for review and self-study. Course times are from 09:15 to 16:00 including a
45-minute break for lunch.
Dual Track is a half-day programme from 09:15 to 13:15 or 13:15 to 17:15 allowing
you the option to supplement classroom tuition with more extensive self-study or to
continue working while doing a Business Track course.
A Development Programme typically consists of ten 3-hour sessions usually taken
over a three month period timetabled to fit around your working schedule.

Group Tuition
Executive Group Programme Executive Group Combination
Executive Group Programme:
Our Executive Group Programmes are comprised of participants with similar levels
and needs. This means that each group is working towards the same overall learning
objectives. A detailed Needs Analysis and a Language Assessment of each delegate
before the start of the course ensure that the groups are not only homogenous but
also share common learning objectives. We guarantee a maximum of 6 participants
per group, although in practice the group size is often much smaller. This creates an
intensive, highly productive learning environment.

We design and tailor our programmes according to the needs and requirements
of the participants. This means that each programme is unique.
We use case studies and business simulations which are relevant to the
participants’ needs. You will therefore be able to apply what you learn in business
situations.
With participants from all over the world you are exposed to different accents,
different approaches to business problems and different cultural backgrounds.
This improves your ability to participate in business at an international level.
Our trainers are qualified, experienced and business-minded in their approach.
Many have a business as well as a language training background. They have lived
and worked in many different countries. They work with the participants to
ensure that their needs are fully met and that they leave with the language skills
needed to work more effectively.
We continually monitor and review progress throughout the programme. The
learning programme can be modified and changed at any point to ensure that
needs are always being met.
We use the latest technology to support your learning – the internet, podcasts
and authentic video clips all feature prominently in the programme. Participants
take away personalised recordings of their work in areas such as pronunciation,
discussions and presentations. They can review their work once they have
returned home.
At the end of each day, there is a selection of optional workshops which offer the
chance to focus more on learning strategies (e.g. how to learn vocabulary, how
to listen to English more effectively etc.) which enable participants to continue
building on their skills after our training.
Executive Group Combination:
Our Executive Group Combination programme combines half-day intensive individual
tuition with half-day group tuition. The combination is particularly useful if you wish
to participate in group activities such as meetings and negotiations but also have
some very specific needs. You may need to improve your technical vocabulary relative
to a particular industry or to prepare a specialised report for presentation to a client
etc. In the individual part of your combination course, you will be able to work
entirely on your own needs, optimising the time available to you.

Cheney Court – Bath
Bath, situated in South West England, is a World Heritage city and Georgian
Spa city and, after London, England’s most popular destination for tourists,
with the Roman Bath House, the Royal Crescent, the 14th Century Abbey
and the world-famous Pulteney Bridge.
Cheney Court, marcus evans linguarama’s Residential Executive
Training Centre, enables participants to develop their English
language skills in a programme of maximum intensity – not only
during training sessions, but also at mealtimes, coffee breaks and
during the social programme. Our modern and well-equipped
centre is the perfect place to improve English whilst enjoying an
international atmosphere in a typically English environment.

The Residential Executive Programme is designed to give you a course of
maximum intensity – combining professional language training designed to meet

Course participants and a number of trainers live at Cheney Court. This gives you
the opportunity to concentrate fully on the main aim of learning English, both in
and out of the classroom (for example during meal times, coffee breaks or over a
drink at the bar)
Cheney Court encourages interaction between business and professional people
from many countries, offering a unique insight into a variety of cultures and
business practices. It also provides an ideal opportunity for networking

Social Programme:
Throughout your stay, you are encouraged to continue extending the use of English

from guest speakers and theatre trips. An optional excursion to Bath is organised
every Wednesday afternoon – alternatively, you can take part in a fluency workshop.

A course in London offers the possibility of combining language training with a visit to one
of the most exciting cities in the world. Our state of the art training centre is ideally situated
in the heart of the City of London; London’s financial district, with its historic buildings, law
courts and head offices of multinational companies.
There are many tourist attractions within walking distance of the centre: St Paul’s Cathedral,
Tower Bridge, the Guildhall, the Museum of London and Borough Market. It is also within
easy reach of the West End theatres, shopping areas and South Bank cultural centres.
London is a vibrant, international city. It offers history, culture,
shopping and entertainment and is at the heart of the global
financial and business world.
Linguarama London:
Linguarama London provides participants with the opportunity to develop their
English language skills with a range of intensive programmes. These are taught by
qualified, experienced trainers with business backgrounds, and combined with social
activities designed to maximise participants’ active use of English.
Participants can have restaurant lunches or lunchtime activities with a trainer.
They can attend workshops and an evening social programme and stay in homestay
accommodation where they can experience life in a typical family.
Facilities:
Linguarama London moved to its new state of the art, purpose built training centre
on the 14th floor of City Tower in January 2009. There are 28 classrooms, all equipped
with the latest technology including computers and interactive whiteboards. From our
14th floor location, there are excellent views of St Paul’s Cathedral, the Barbican,
the Guildhall, St Mary Axe and a cityscape view stretching to Canary Wharf in
the distance.

With a variety of different topics each week, these sessions are designed
to promote learner independence skills which will enable participants to
continue learning English more independently and more effectively once they

Visits:
During your course, there is the possibility of going on a work-related visit with your
trainer. Typical visits include the Bank of England, The Old Bailey, the Civil Courts,
high street retailers or relevant visits to offices or companies so that you can practise
your English in a real situation.
Your trainer will be with you at all times and will give you feedback on any relevant
language points. Visits with your trainer to tourist attractions are also possible!
Social Programme:
Taking advantage of everything London has to offer, the London social programme is
an exciting and essential part of the learning experience. It provides participants with
extended opportunities to use English and to network with fellow business people
in less formal but very ‘real’ situations. Each evening there is a different activity,
each one accompanied by a trainer. Typical activities include: theatre trips, museums
and galleries (entrance is free in London), the London Eye and countless other
possibilities. As Samuel Johnson said; ’A man who is tired of London is tired of life’.
Accommodation:
Our Executive Homestays have been specially selected to provide a high standard
of accommodation in a welcoming family environment. All are situated within easy
reach of the training centre. They provide half-board during the week and full board
at weekends. Each participant has a comfortable study bedroom. Most importantly,
the family provides an ideal opportunity for the participants to have more practice
using authentic language in authentic situations.

Stratford-upon-Avon
The beautiful market town of Stratford-upon-Avon is world famous as the birthplace of
William Shakespeare, England’s finest poet and playwright. Surrounded by beautiful English
countryside, Stratford is an ideal place to come and learn English. As well as visiting the theatre
during your course, there are many other cultural attractions to see such as the beautifully
restored Harvard House and the Shakespeare properties dating back to the 15th century.
You might also like to take a boat trip along the river Avon, or simply enjoy the atmosphere
in one of the many pubs in the town where you will receive a very warm welcome.
Linguarama in Stratford-upon-Avon was founded in 1989
to provide intensive English language training to business and
professional people. Since then over 18,000 participants have
improved their language skills and gone on to work more
effectively and efficiently through the medium of English.

Situated just 5 minutes walk from the centre of Stratford, our training centre is
located in a modern 3 floor office building. We have 26 classrooms equipped with

One of the reasons people choose Stratford-upon-Avon as a location for their English

There is something very authentic about watching one of Shakespeare’s plays in one
of the Shakespeare Theatres performed by the RSC in Shakespeare’s Stratford.

With a variety of different topics each week, these sessions are designed to promote
learner independence skills which will enable students to continue learning English
more independently and more effectively once they have returned home.
Social Programme:
The social programme is an important part of the learning experience. It provides the
participants with extended opportunities to use and apply their English in less formal,
but very ‘real’ situations. Every evening an activity is organised for the participants.
The activities are varied, enjoyable and interesting. At the weekends, the participants
often like to organise their own programmes, typically a visit to Warwick Castle,
Oxford, Birmingham or London.
Accommodation:
Our Executive Host Families have been specially selected to provide a high standard
of accommodation in a welcoming family environment. All are situated within
walking distance of the centre (maximum 25 minutes). They provide half-board
during the week and full board at weekends. Each participant has a comfortable
study bedroom. Most importantly, the family provides an ideal opportunity for the
participants to have more practice listening to and using authentic language in
authentic situations. We are also happy to recommend hotel accommodation suited
to your requirements and within close proximity to the training centre. We have
specially negotiated rates with the main hotels in Stratford.

Stratford offers a wide range of sporting activities. There are a number of jogging
circuits in and around Stratford. We also play football once a week. We organise
