PART-TIME COMMUNCATIONS SPECIALIST<br />

JCEDC is seeking a <strong>Communications</strong> <strong>Specialist</strong> who will provide primary support for daily office<br />

communications. Other primary responsibilities will include committee management responsibilities, real<br />

estate and organization marketing, demographic research, and public relation activities. A September 3,<br />

2013, starting date is anticipated.<br />

This part-time (average of 16 hours per week) position requires some experience with Google<br />

Applications and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. As a <strong>Communications</strong> <strong>Specialist</strong> one must also<br />

possess the following: superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, flexibility in<br />

performing assigned tasks, professional demeanor, and the ability to work with limited<br />

supervision. Preference will be given to those applicants with experience in an office setting.<br />

Schedule:<br />

Average of 16 hours per week<br />

Salary Range:<br />

$7.50 - $8.50/hour (Salary commensurate with experience)<br />

<strong>Job</strong> <strong>Description</strong><br />

• Property Listing Management duties include: statistics and demographic research, research to<br />

find current available Johnson County properties and property profile entry.<br />

• Social Media Management duties include: updating the JCEDC website with news and press<br />

releases, updating the JCEDC Facebook page and Twitter account.<br />

• Receptionist duties include: answering phones, scheduling appointments, and greeting<br />

guests. Providing office and administrative support as needed.<br />

• Committee Management duties include: maintaining office calendar for JCEDC committees and<br />

boards, scheduling and communicating meeting dates, coordinating attendees, and preparing<br />

meeting information for committee and board members.<br />

Experience Required


• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, web-based Google applications and the<br />

ability to learn other economic development specific software<br />

• Superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills<br />

• Flexibility in accepting and performing tasks as assigned<br />

• Ability to work with limited supervision<br />

• Working toward a college degree will be considered<br />

• Experience in office setting preferred<br />
