CONFERENCE CALL TO MISSION Morning Conference - October 8 United in Mission - 9am to 1pm at Holy Innocents Church, Fallowfield AS the Bishop holding the portfolio for ministry and mission I wish to commend this forthcoming morning conference to all CRUX readers. The impression is sometimes given is that it is only those who would call themselves ‘evangelical’ who are committed to promoting mission and growth in the life of their churches. I know how mistaken this impression is from my own involvement with parishes. Bishop Nigel’s pilgrimage visits have further borne out a rich commitment to mission on the part of parishes from many different traditions. How good then, at a time when differences on ‘internal’ questions of how we order our life as the Church of England are high on the agenda, that largely as an initiative from those who in different ways would call themselves ‘Catholic’, our focus on October 8 will be: ‘United in Mission’. I look forward to sharing the leadership of the Conference with the Bishop of Beverley, Martyn Jarrett, our keynote speaker, and there will be some exciting workshops prior to a closing Eucharist. This is a conference for all those who are passionate to see more practical ways in which mission and growth can be furthered in their parishes. As Jesus prayed: ‘May they all be one. As you Father, are in me and I am in you, so may they also be in us, so that the world may believe you have sent me’ (John 17.21). I look forward to seeing you on October 8.
