Sarah Lockwood, ye daughter <strong>of</strong> Joseph and Mary<br />

Lockwood, was born Nov. 28, 1723, and departed this life<br />

Feb. 1, 1726-7.<br />

Isaac Lockwood, ye son <strong>of</strong> ye said Joseph and Mary<br />

Lockwood, was born Dec. 24, 1726.<br />

Thomas Fitch,* Jun., <strong>of</strong> <strong>Norwalk</strong>, took to wife Hannah<br />

• Thomas Fitch graduated at Yale College in 1721, was Lieut,<br />

Gov., Chief Justice, and Governor <strong>of</strong> the Colony from 1754 to 1766,<br />

<strong>The</strong> following is the inscription on his tombstone :<br />

THE HOINJORABLE THOMAS FITCH, ESQ.,<br />

GOV. OF THE COLONY 01" CONNECTICUT,<br />

Eminent and distinguished among mortals<br />

for great abilities, large<br />

acquirements, and a<br />

virtuous charactera<br />

clear, strong, sedate mind,<br />

and an accurate, extensive acquaintance<br />

with law and civil government<br />

a happy talent <strong>of</strong> presiding,<br />

close application and strict fidelity,<br />

in the discharge <strong>of</strong> important trusts,<br />

no less than<br />

for his employments by the voice <strong>of</strong> the people<br />

in the chief <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong> State,<br />

and at the head <strong>of</strong> the colony.<br />

Having served his generation by the will <strong>of</strong> God^<br />

fell asleep July 18, Anno Domini 1774,<br />

in the 78th year <strong>of</strong> his age.
