Camfield, (or Campfield,) Matthew—a magistrate<br />

and judge ; not only a leading man there, but in<br />

the Colony.—One <strong>of</strong> the signers <strong>of</strong> the petition to King<br />

Charles II. for the Colony ; in 1662, appointed with<br />

Gold and Sherman to hold courts at Fairfield.<br />

" Ely, Nathaniel" Hartford, 1635,—nonstable,<br />

1639, "one <strong>of</strong> the settlers <strong>of</strong> <strong>Norwalk</strong>, but afterwards<br />

removed to Springfield, Massachusetts."<br />

" Fitch, Thomas,—a brother <strong>of</strong> Rev. James, at<br />

Saybrook, and <strong>of</strong> Joseph, <strong>of</strong> Windsor.<br />

Hartford in 1639, and '47 ; an original proprietor and<br />

settler in Hartford before '39 ; removed to <strong>Norwalk</strong>^<br />

deputy to the General Court from <strong>Norwalk</strong> in '54.<br />

" Olivisted, Richard, Hartford, 1640, constable '46,<br />

fence viewer '49, deputy in '62-3 ; moved to <strong>Norwalk</strong><br />

and was made a military <strong>of</strong>ficer. In 1661 was appointed<br />

with John Banks, and Joseph Judson, who were appointed<br />

by the General Court, to run the lines between<br />

Fairfield and Stratford."<br />

Mr. Hinman says, that Robert Lockwood came to <strong>Conn</strong>ecticut<br />

from Cambridge, and was probably one <strong>of</strong> the settlers <strong>of</strong> <strong>Norwalk</strong>.<br />
