DEPUTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S ASSOCIATION<br />

The Deputy <strong>District</strong> <strong>Attorney</strong>’s Association of <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong><br />

<strong>County</strong> consists of persons who are employed as Deputy<br />

<strong>District</strong> <strong>Attorney</strong>s and Child Support Program <strong>Attorney</strong>s<br />

for the <strong>County</strong> of <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong>. The main goals of the<br />

Association are to further the economic, professional,<br />

and social interests of its members.<br />

In <strong>2007</strong>, the Association’s Board of Directors consisted<br />

of the following volunteer officers and directors, elected<br />

by the Association membership: Giacomo Bucci, Chantal<br />

DeMauregne, Patrick Espinoza, David Hendren, Robert<br />

Hickey, Evan Kirvin, James Koerber, Robert Lafer, Cari<br />

Phillips, Sophia Roach, Michael Running, James Simmons,<br />

Steve Walter, and David F. Williams III. The Association<br />

was led by its President, David Hendren.<br />

During <strong>2007</strong>, the Association worked closely with the<br />

<strong>District</strong> <strong>Attorney</strong>’s administration on such important<br />

issues as: the hiring process, the promotion process, the<br />

selection process for the Chief Deputy <strong>District</strong> <strong>Attorney</strong>,<br />

and exploring the feasibility of creating more flex time<br />

positions within the office. The Association successfully<br />

worked with the <strong>District</strong> <strong>Attorney</strong> in securing an increase<br />

in the number of Professional Time Off hours awarded<br />

to attorneys for search warrant duty.<br />

The Association endorsed candidates for elected and<br />

appointed office, including judgeships. The Association<br />

also helped to fund the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> <strong>County</strong> Regional Law<br />

Enforcement Memorial, which will honor local law<br />

enforcement personnel.<br />

On May 10, <strong>2007</strong>, at the annual Hail and Farewell event,<br />

the Association welcomed the office’s newly hired<br />

attorneys, and said goodbye to its retiring veterans.<br />

On November 30, <strong>2007</strong>,<br />

the Association co-hosted<br />

the annual Holiday Party<br />

with the <strong>District</strong> <strong>Attorney</strong><br />

Investigators Association.<br />

<strong>Attorney</strong>s and investigators<br />

showed their appreciation<br />

for the important role of<br />

the office’s support staff.<br />

Over 350 members of<br />

the <strong>District</strong> <strong>Attorney</strong>’s Office attended.<br />

Throughout <strong>2007</strong>, the Association maintained its<br />

commitment of working effectively to protect and<br />

increase the quality of work and life enjoyed by its<br />

membership, a membership which is proud to be an<br />

essential part of the Office of the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

<strong>District</strong> <strong>Attorney</strong>. ■<br />

On September 29, <strong>2007</strong>, during the <strong>Annual</strong><br />

Awards Banquet, the Association honored its<br />

fellow members, and other law enforcement<br />

officials, by bestowing the following awards:<br />

• Outstanding Achievement Award:<br />

Elizabeth L. McClutchey, Blaine Bowman,<br />

Robert O. Amador, and David T. Grapilon<br />

• Government Official/Law Enforcement<br />

<strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> Sheriff’s Dept.<br />
