CERTIFICATES<br />
The following certificates are available as part of all degree programs offered at <strong>Richmont</strong>. Certain restrictions are noted for the M.S. degree.<br />
Professionals who hold a master’s degree in counseling, marriage and family therapy or an equivalent degree may pursue the certificates offered<br />
by <strong>Richmont</strong>. Individuals pursuing certificates must take a minimum of four courses to earn a certificate. <strong>Richmont</strong> reserves the right to require<br />
prerequisites for individuals pursuing a certificate offered by the <strong>University</strong>.<br />

Addictions Counseling<br />
The addictions counseling certificate is designed to provide specialized training for those students who wish to work with individuals in<br />
the broad area of addictions. These students will be trained to work with a wide range of issues but will receive specific training related to<br />
human addictions that is grounded in Christian theology.<br />
The courses required for a certificate in addictions counseling include any four of the following. Up to two of the four courses may be<br />
original, independent studies.<br />
CED 6832 Addictions Counseling: An Integrative Approach to Assessment and Treatment (required)<br />
CED 7532 Sexual Dysfunctions, Addictive, Compulsive & Paraphilic Sexuality (prerequisites apply)<br />
CED 7582 Advanced Sexual Addictions Counseling (prerequisites apply)<br />
CED 7852 Eating Disorders: Etiology, Assessment, and Counseling Interventions<br />
CEDI 7801 Original Independent Study (may be repeated once)<br />
PSY 7162 Psychopharmacology for Therapists<br />
Child and Adolescent Counseling<br />
The child and adolescent certificate is designed to provide specialized training for those students planning to work primarily with children<br />
and teens. These students still fulfill all licensure requirements and also are trained in working with adults. However, they receive<br />
systematic training in important areas needed to provide Christian counseling to children and adolescents.<br />
The courses required for a certificate in child and adolescent counseling include the following:<br />
CED/PSY 6412 Child and Adolescent Psychopathology (prerequisite)<br />
CED 6422 Counseling Children<br />
CED 7432 Counseling Adolescents<br />
CED 7442 Advanced Child and Adolescent Counseling<br />
Christian Sex Therapy<br />

The Christian sex therapy certificate is designed to provide specialized training for those students who wish to work with individuals in<br />
the broad area of sexuality. These students will be trained to work with a wide range of issues but will receive specific training related to<br />
human sexuality that is grounded in Christian theology.<br />
For a certificate in Christian sex therapy, students are required to take a minimum of four of the following courses:<br />
