A place of miracles Having endured three heart operations, a knee replacement and numerous procedures related to leukemia, Peter Moraghan has seen more than his fair share of hospitals. A retired businessman with 42 years experience in finance, Peter, who is 79 years old this year, speaks with authority when he says, “I have never seen a better run hospital than Lourdes. It is the best hospital I have ever been in. I was very fortunate to end up there.” After an operation in Sydney, Peter was transferred to a private hospital and then referred to Lourdes in Dubbo. “When I arrived at Lourdes, I was bed bound, unable to walk and in a bad way. I was there for eight to nine weeks and I walked out of there unaided. The staff members are outstanding, very positive people working in very difficult jobs,” he said. When asked about the value of respect, Peter said, “I could not have received more respect from the staff members. I have never been in a hospital like it. If I can ever do anything for Lourdes I am the first cab off the rank!” Alison Loudon, Health Service Manager, said, “The staff members at Lourdes demonstrate respect to all patients, visitors and community members.
