News ! " # $ # % Robert Trivette ’81 was elevated to a judgeship in coastal North Carolina. In November, he was appointed by North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue to fill the vacant District Court Judgeship in the seven-county First Judicial District. A resident of Kitty Hawk, Trivette was serving as the acting director of Vandeventer Black, a law firm specializing in civil and criminal defense cases. Lisa OVERSTREET Rhodes-Pittman ’86 married Greg Pittman May 23 on a beach in Hilton Head, S.C. With Greg’s two children and Lisa’s two, they now live in Alpharetta, Ga. Lisa teaches first grade in the Fulton County School System and plans to complete her master’s in administration and supervision in March. 1990s Jeanne FENDLEY Clark ’90 is a member of the Jt. Masters of Foxhounds of the Casanova Hunt in Casanova, Va. She hunts at least three days a week and still competes regularly with her field hunters and show horses. You may also purchase a book from the VI bookstore. Janice “Jan” JONES Harber ’95 earned her certification as a professional in human resources, awarded by the HR Certification Institute. Jan currently serves as human resources administrator for Thompson & Litton, an engineering, architectural surveying and construction firm, founded in Wise, Va. She and her husband, Jeff, have two children and live in Dryden, Va. Emily A. JOHNSON-Frye ‘03 graduated from VI with a bachelor’s in business management with a minor in equine studies while serving as a member of the IHSA riding team. She works in higher education, serving as the admissions events coordinator for Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, N.C. 42 Al Cook photo Angee QUATTRO Kerns ’04 earned top honors in the younger adult hunters at Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, Md., last October. She earned first and second place over fences in a group of more than 30 and won champion for the division. That earned her a spot in the local hunter finals in Washington, D.C., where she took home top honors, winning the finals class and the Washington International Horse Show grand champion local hunter horse honors. Angee’s trainer is Katie Petronelli ‘02. Prior to this competition, Angee was married Sept. 26 in Morgantown, W.Va., to Phillip Kerns, a graduate of Virginia Military Institute, who works for the state department as a counterterrorism analyst. Deborah was a licensed professional counselor and served the college as director of student counseling. She is greatly missed by all who knew her. We also extend our sympathies to Margaret EASLEY Lee ’64 upon the death of her husband, Dr. H. Douglas Lee, Aug. 22, 2009 in DeLand, Fla. Dr. Lee was a dedicated employee of Virginia Intermont in the early 1970s. He had recently retired from Stetson University after a successful 31-year career, serving as president for 22 years. 41
