Consortium to $14.7 Million National
TAACCCT Grant Award
$14,700,000
Bossier Parish Community College has been awarded the lead in
a $14.7 million grant as part of the U.S. Department of Labor’s
Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career
Training (TAACCCT) initiative. This national initiative promotes
skills development and employment opportunities in fields such
as advanced manufacturing, transportation, health care, science,
technology, engineering and math careers through partnerships
between training providers and local employers.
Bossier Parish Community College, along with eight other
community colleges in Louisiana and Mississippi, was awarded
$14,710,837 of the $500 million in community college grants to
expand job training through local employer partnerships.
Lisa Wheeler, BPCC’s Director of Institutional Research and Grants,
says this award will have a tremendous impact on the Louisiana/
Mississippi region. “This award is the largest ever received by
BPCC, but more importantly, it’s one of the greatest opportunities
to serve workers and employers in our communities. §

The 4 th Annual BPCC100 Go-Kart race, presented by Encana
Oil & Gas, Inc., raised more than $46,000 for BPCC student
scholarships, bringing the combined total of each year’s race
proceeds to $128,000.
This event has become an annual tradition for local businesses.
“The funds raised help grant access to deserving students in the
form of scholarships helping to offset the cost of tuition and fees,”
said BPCC Foundation Director Stephanie Rogers.
Nearly 20 teams participated in the event which was represented
by local businesses, community agencies and campus groups.
AEP SWEPCO – Texarkana Team took home the 1st place trophy
as the 2012 BPCC100 Champs.
The 5th Annual BPCC100 next fall promises lots of excitement.
Team-sponsored, customized go-karts zip around a race track
competing for trophies and bragging rights. Teams also compete
for prizes in various categories: Best Looking Car; Best Dressed
Pit Crew and Fastest Pit Crew. §
