Outthinking the Competition: An Introduction to ‘Ingenuity’
and Radical Innovation Thinking
30 October 2013, Prince Hotel & Residence, Kuala Lumpur
One-day programme for chief executive officers and senior managers of multinational corporations, government link companies,
Malaysian private companies, small and medium enterprises, and senior government officials.

Outthinking the
Competition
It is incredibly important that chief executive officers and senior
managers have the ability to make decisions efficiently and
effectively. In practice, however, the quality of decision making
is often neglected in favour of the speed at which decisions are
made. When confronting a difficult problem, both individuals and
organisations tend naturally to try and alleviate their discomfort by
making a quick decision as to how the problem should be resolved
rather than spending time to consider more innovative approaches.
Outthinking the competition uses one of the most highly refined
techniques for radical innovation thinking. The ‘Ingenuity’ approach
is to improve both decision making and leadership by providing a
rigorous method for ensuring that optimal and creative solutions are
determined and acted upon.
You will leave the programme with:
• new capacity for effective decision making
• the ability to put radical innovation thinking into practice
• strengthened leadership qualities through the rigorous decision
making methodology of the ‘Ingenuity’ approach
• the ability to identify optimal solutions
Learning outcomes
By the end of the programme, you will be able to:
• understand the nature of innovation as a process and the
importance of considering radical as well as conventional
solutions to particular problems
• explain how the ‘Ingenuity’ approach can be used in practice to
solve business problems and improve decision making in the
workplace
• apply the ‘Ingenuity’ approach in the context of your own key
challenges in the workplace
• take away supporting materials that will enable you to apply the
‘Ingenuity’ approach in the future
Methods of training and
assessment
• Case studies and exercises in a workshop setting
• Brief video screenings followed by discussion
