DR. CHAPMAN’S “LOVE LANGUAGES”
• Dr. Chapman believes that there are five love
languages and the important thing in the
marriage/child/ teen relationship is to speak the
love language of your spouse, child or teen. Once
you identify and learn to speak this primary love
language, Dr. Chapman believes that you will have
discovered the key to a long-lasting, loving
marriage and family connection.

WORDS OF AFFIRMATION
• Proverbs 12:25
• “Anxiety weighs down the heart,
but a kind word cheers it up.”
• Ephesians 4:29
• “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your
mouths, but only what is helpful for building others
up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who
listen.”

QUALITY TIME
• Ecclesiastes 4:9-11
• “Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:

If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.

Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?”
• How much time do you share with someone you
love that is task-driven rather than enjoyment
driven?

ACTS OF SERVICE
• John 13:12-15
• “When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his
clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what
I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me
‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I
am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed
your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have
set you an example that you should do as I have done for
you.”
• What task could you do that you don’t normally do
that would bless someone you love?

PHYSICAL TOUCH
• I Corinthians 6:19-20
• “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy
Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?
You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a
price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
• Sitting close, holding hands, a gentle touch, a hug…
