Bringing a pair of vintage JBL L-100s to the party<br />
was even more fun as these were a pair of speakers<br />
you might have bought back in 1978 to go along with<br />
your G-22000. And with 220 watts on tap, chances are<br />
you probably blew a tweeter or two as well. However,<br />
the synergy between these two components and a<br />
recently restored Thorens TD-125 from Vinyl Nirvana<br />
made going down memory lane with a set of my favorite<br />
albums from this time period an extremely pleasurable<br />
experience – the overall tonality and groove were<br />
spot-on. As much as I hate the Eagles’ Hotel California,<br />
it’s inviting through this vintage system.<br />
So regardless of how you stack it, if you still enjoy<br />
listening to FM and spinning records, the Sansui could<br />
be a great anchor to a primary or secondary system.<br />
These days a clean one will set you back about $1,300<br />
to as high as $2,000 for a spotless example.<br />
