NYS <strong>Office</strong> <strong>of</strong> Probation and Correctional Alternatives (OPCA)<br />
• Conducted Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Programs:<br />
Effective Probation tools statewide orientation series on evidence-based practices<br />
in 6 regions <strong>for</strong> 139 probation pr<strong>of</strong>essionals. The series included specific<br />
in<strong>for</strong>mation on how <strong>the</strong>se particular programs can be used <strong>for</strong> domestic violence<br />
<strong>of</strong>fenders.<br />
• Conducted 5 regional trainings <strong>of</strong> a new program: Probation Response to<br />
<strong>Domestic</strong> <strong>Violence</strong> in Rural and Native American Communities <strong>for</strong> 48 probation<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essionals statewide.<br />
• Presented domestic violence workshops at <strong>the</strong> NYS Minorities in Criminal Justice<br />
<strong>Annual</strong> Training Institute in Batavia, NY and <strong>the</strong> NYS Probation <strong>Office</strong>rs<br />
Association Conference in Albany, NY <strong>for</strong> over 60 probation and o<strong>the</strong>r criminal<br />
justice practitioners from across New York State.<br />
• Facilitated Motivational Interviewing: Practical Application <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Probation<br />
<strong>Office</strong>r training program that included in<strong>for</strong>mation in <strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> Motivational<br />
Interviewing <strong>for</strong> domestic violence cases and o<strong>the</strong>r special <strong>of</strong>fender populations.<br />
• Provided training <strong>for</strong> over 70 probation <strong>of</strong>ficers and staff <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Albany County<br />
Probation Department.<br />
• Conducted domestic violence training <strong>for</strong> 41 new probation <strong>of</strong>ficers during <strong>the</strong><br />
OPCA fundamentals <strong>of</strong> Probation Practice training program with a focus on<br />
holding <strong>of</strong>fenders accountable and working to enhance victim safety.<br />

NYS <strong>Office</strong> <strong>of</strong> Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA)<br />
• The Division <strong>of</strong> Child Support Enhancement invited OPDV to provide an<br />
overview <strong>of</strong> domestic violence services in local districts at <strong>the</strong> child support<br />
coordinator’s training.<br />
• BHR Personnel Administrators attended OPDV <strong>Domestic</strong> <strong>Violence</strong> and <strong>the</strong><br />
Workplace training sessions.<br />
• Provided OTDA staff access to <strong>Domestic</strong> <strong>Violence</strong> and <strong>the</strong> Workplace awareness<br />
video.<br />
