<strong>Dear</strong> <strong>Neighbor</strong>,<br />
<strong>Thanks</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>your</strong> <strong>generous</strong> <strong>support</strong> <strong>of</strong> our Annual Appeal, the Bedford Free Library has<br />
enjoyed a very successful year. Your contributions have enabled us <strong>to</strong> expand traditional<br />
library services and inviting programming, and <strong>to</strong> keep our technology contemporary.<br />
We truly thank you, and would like <strong>to</strong> share some <strong>of</strong> our successes with you.<br />
One major achievement was the introduction <strong>of</strong> our user friendly website. This provides<br />
relevant information about the Library, the community we serve, and access <strong>to</strong> the<br />
Westchester Library System’s catalog. We encourage you <strong>to</strong> explore and use the site at<br />
www.bedfordfreelibrary.org.<br />
Additionally, <strong>your</strong> feedback and financial <strong>support</strong> have allowed us <strong>to</strong> maintain and<br />
develop popular programs, which include:<br />
Book Buddies – a popular summer program where student volunteers read with<br />
young children. “I go <strong>to</strong> read at book buddies with my big kid friends. I love book buddies. It<br />
is my favorite summer thing.”<br />
Brown Bag Book Chats – an informal lunchtime opportunity <strong>to</strong> discuss books.<br />
Initially envisioned as a summer program, it was so well received it continues <strong>to</strong> meet<br />
monthly. “It was just what I needed, an opportunity <strong>to</strong> meet new people and talk about books<br />
with no pressure or judgment. The Library Ladies, who facilitated, were well prepared and provided<br />
me with many new resources and suggestions.”<br />
Senior Chair Yoga – a six week session <strong>of</strong> gentle yoga <strong>to</strong> increase flexibility, strength<br />
and stamina. These classes are <strong>of</strong>fered throughout the year. “Marlene is a wonderful<br />
teacher. I always left the class feeling energized and ready <strong>to</strong> tackle the rest <strong>of</strong> my day.”<br />
Aspiring Writers – a patron inspired group that meets monthly <strong>to</strong> critique and<br />
encourage one another’s writing. New members are always welcome. “I never would<br />
have attempted <strong>to</strong> continue with my novel if it hadn’t been for this group. It has given me an<br />
opportunity <strong>to</strong> express a side <strong>of</strong> myself that I have always wanted <strong>to</strong> explore.”<br />
It is not easy <strong>to</strong> encapsulate all that the Library <strong>of</strong>fers and the environment that it<br />
provides, however, one patron’s comment summarizes what we <strong>of</strong>ten hear; “The Bedford<br />
Library is small but special. It provides me with the opportunity for connection, conversation, community<br />
and, <strong>of</strong> course, books!” We thank you and hope you will <strong>support</strong> the Library by donating<br />
<strong>generous</strong>ly <strong>to</strong> this year’s Annual Appeal.<br />
