A GREEN THUMB CAN ADD TO QUALITY
Westglow will have fully stocked shelves in the LEC this summer with
six new product lines.
world renown and developed a product line to match. The products
Westglow will be carrying are spa-at-home products which include
scrubs, soaps, and hand and foot treatments.
Decleor is a world-renowned French and Japanese line that focuses on
acquired remarkable knowledge of the plant realm.
good tastes in books, movies and products. Decleor has been one of the
skincare lines featured on her “O list.”
at all ages.
Westglow is fortunate to have
talented chefs preparing three
gourmet meals daily. Travis Sparks,
the Executive Chef at Rowland’s is
skilled not only in the kitchen, but
also in the garden. Travis has had a
green thumb since he was just a boy.
Working with his grandfather,
Travis was able to pick up on the
subtleties of gardening. With this
knowledge he plans to spearhead the project of getting both an
Herb Garden and Vegetable Garden growing quality produce by
summertime. In the Herb Garden alongside the main front lawn,
everything from parsley, cilantro, thyme, dill and numerous varieties
of basil will be grown. Also on our property we have a vegetable
garden including zucchini, squash, carrots, peppers and radishes, along
with several greens such as kale, collards, chard and spinach, just to
name a few.
Travis says he has already been bringing vegetables and greens from his
home near Banner Elk for some time now. “With this garden at our
back door, the greens and vegetables won’t lose nutrients before they
are prepared. It really makes a difference when you’re preparing a meal
with ingredients that you helped produce. The quality of food and the
end product is so much better.”
R ECIPE:
Summertime is upon us, and it is time to clean the grill, check the
propane, or grab a bag of charcoal because grilling season is here.
Westglow has the perfect recipe to aid you in creating meals that
will make the whole neighborhood jealous. The Citrus & Local Honey
Vinaigrette accompanies any grilled and seasoned fish excellently.
2 Tbsp. Local Honey
1/4 cup Lemon Juice, freshly squeezed
1 Tbsp. Fresh chopped Thyme
2 Cloves of garlic, minced
Salt and Pepper to taste
Add honey, lemon juice, thyme, and garlic to blender. Pour in olive
oil slowly to emulsify with other ingredients. Add salt and pepper
to taste. Season tilapia or snapper filets with salt and pepper, or other
favorite seasoning, and grill. When finished top with vinaigrette, serve
and enjoy.
