It has been six months since I took office at UNADP as the Execuve<br />
Director. I want to thank God who has made it possible and I want<br />
to thank <strong>UNAPD</strong> Board of Directors who had trust in me and have<br />
given me the responsibility to work with a team of energec men and<br />
women.I want to take this opportunity to welcome all project Staff<br />
who have joined the team. <strong>The</strong>se few months have been rigorous<br />
but we have managed it well and am happy to announce that we<br />
have moved on in a posive direcon and recorded a number of<br />
achievements.<br />
On behalf of the secretariat, I want to thank the board for the<br />
support they have given whenever called upon to give direcon and<br />
guidance to <strong>UNAPD</strong>.<br />
I want to inform you that we have managed to do a commendable<br />
job in terms of project implementaon: We launched a number of<br />
projects namely; Capacity Building and Sustainable Development<br />
Project (CBSDP), Sports Project at Chieaincy Mubende Rehabilitaon<br />
Center (CMRC) as well as the Disability Rights Fund Project(DRF).<br />
We started work in the project communies, districts, and are<br />
networking with like-minded partners in advocang for an accessible<br />
environment that brings joy to all cizens of Uganda including those<br />
with disability.<br />
This year, we have on board the CBSD Project which brings a unique<br />
mix of experse from partner organizaons namely Spinal Injury<br />
Associaon (SIA), Brain Injury Support Organizaon of Uganda<br />
(BISOU), and Uganda Paralympics Commiee (UPC) all working<br />
together in 16 districts.<br />
We want to thank our Partners who make this possible and make<br />
sure that persons with disabilies are accorded their human rights<br />
and to all readers that this informaon makes a difference in your<br />
lives.<br />
It has been a while without an offi cial<br />
communication to our esteemed<br />
readers, partners, stakeholders<br />
and members on the updates<br />
at Uganda National Action on<br />
Physical Disability (<strong>UNAPD</strong>) and<br />
our partners while reaching you<br />
using our most beloved Newsletter<br />
“the <strong>UNAPD</strong> UPDATE”.A lot has<br />
happened since the beginning of<br />
the year, and this is an optune<br />
time to update you all on what has<br />
transpired since January, <strong>2014</strong><br />
and also give you updates of the<br />
upcoming events.<br />
We are blessed with new projects,<br />
board and staff on board. This<br />
brings together a breadth of new<br />
ideas as well as partnerships<br />
that will make implementation a<br />
success.<br />
We thank our local partners, DPOs,<br />
donors especially Danish Handicap<br />
Forbund (DHF), Disability<br />
Sports Organization Denmark<br />
(DSOD), and Danish Brain Injury<br />
Association in Denmark (DBIA) for<br />
the support that enables us reach<br />
our readers and those attributions<br />
made to make this Newsletter.<br />
