Pediatric Surgery Residents
As part of the Section on Surgery’s mission on
educating residents, this conference provides
perspectives for graduating residents in pediatric
surgery on what makes for a good fit between
a young surgeon and an institution and clinical
practice. This is a venue in which employment
opportunities are disseminated to the residents
in pediatric surgery. This program represents a
unique forum where pediatric surgery residents
throughout the country can meet in one place
and learn about their future options in their
professional careers. This is also a great opportunity
for them to meet their future colleagues
and mentors, and find out about the most recent
workforce trends.

of bariatric procedures and concepts
in adolescent development important
to consider in selection, preparation,
and follow-up of bariatric surgery.
Comorbidities that lead to bariatric
surgery will be reviewed. Individual
psychological and families issues will

and exercise will be addressed.

about some of the life-threatening conditions that can
likely present to primary care pediatricians. Clinical
cases will be presented illustrating how to identify
theses conditions. Participants will learn how to provide
initial resuscitative efforts and how to direct the
patient to the appropriate center for definitive care.
