Education Through Care
Director’s News
I would like to extend a big
welcome to all of our new
families. I hope you are settling
in nicely. If there is anything we
can do for you, please just let
us know.
We have had a number of
changes in the centre over the
past couple of months and I
would like to thank you for
your co‐operation and
patience. We are well and truly
into the swing of supplying
food and the children have
accepted it quite well. We have
only had a couple of little noses
turn up at some of the food but
they are generally happy with
their supplemented sandwich.
We are encouraging all children
to at least try the food before
they refuse it. Please see your
rooms eat/sleep chart for what
your child has eaten for the
day. If you would like any
further information on
‘Yummies for Little Tummies’,
please feel free to have a
browse through the
information provided in the
foyer. The menu is displayed
each week, outside the kitchen
and on the Babies room fridge.
Thank you to all of the families
who have transitioned over to
the Direct debit or Centrepay
systems. By accepting these
methods of payments, we hope
to make fee paying easier for
you and help you keep your
account up to date. All
accounts will be billed for the
week we are in, and we will no
longer require you to keep your
fees two weeks in advance.
This will hopefully take a load
off.
Children's Sign In/ out sheets
Please be advised that it is a
government standard to sign
your child in and out EACH day
using your full name, initial and
time. Please refer to the
example shown below on how
to correctly sign your child in
and out of the centre each day.
Please note that if your child is
not signed in this way you will
not be entitled for CCB and will
have to pay full fees.
If you have any questions
regarding the sign in/out sheets
please see your Director
Appropriate Clothing
As we have all noticed, the
weather has changed. Can you
please ensure that your
children are clothed
appropriately; this means; hats,
shoes, t‐shirts, shorts etc. Can
you please ensure that your
child’s clothing and shoes are
named. We have had a real
issue with lost property at the
moment. We understand the
cost of buying your children
clothes, and we try our hardest
to make sure that they are kept
in children’s bags, but without

identification this makes this
job even harder. We cannot be
responsible for items not
labelled as we have 50‐60
children here each day. Please
also make sure that you have
packed spare clothes for your
child as we do not have any at
the centre. Please ensure that
ALL of your child’s belongings
are clearly labelled.
Just a quick reminder that your
donation of tissues and wipes
are now due. We are
desperate need of these as
many children have runny
noses through the colder
months.
School Readiness
Welcome to all our families to
the last quarter of the year.
The countdown is on to
Christmas. As you may be
aware we have been trying to
help prepare your children for
prep next year. We have been
practicing their pre‐writing
skills by supplying tracing
sheets at day care and for at
home. We have been
practicing our letter recognition
and the sounds that go with
them. We will next move onto
our numbers and being able to
recognize them. We are trying
hard to help make your child’s
transition to prep as effortless
as possible. However, before
Christmas is Graduation. As we
make preparations for
graduation we will keep you
informed and updated. We will
book a date for Graduation and
photo’s and let you know asap.
Any parents with ideas about
the Christmas period please
don’t hesitate to talk to Karen
or Tracy.

Kindy Room
What a fantastic year it’s been
in the kindy room! For you that
don’t know my name is Emma I
am the group leader in the
Kindy room and Miss Anna is
the lovely assistant. Firstly we
would like to welcome Jaiden,
Tristian, Shayleigh, Hunter,
Jack, Holly to the Kindy room.
We have created some really
cool pods in the room within
the last couple of months. The
children have been interested
in pirates, on
the farm and
recently the
books ‘Never
smile at a
crocodile’. We
have also been
learning how to trace our
names and count to 10. We
have been learning our days of
the week and surprisingly most
children know it.
A huge thank you to the
parents who have helped with
fundraising and have been
donating things for the room.
We really appreciate this as this
gives the children new toys to
play with which makes it extra
exciting.
Spring has
sprung and the
weather is
getting warmer
now. We need
to make sure all
children have
appropriate clothing such as
shorts, sun safe shirts and most
importantly HATS.
Please label all clothing so
staffs are aware what items
belong to whom.
As Christmas is coming up in a
few months we are slowly
collecting things for the room.
If you have anything at home
that you’re thinking about
throwing away, please consider
us. Let us know if you celebrate
this occasion or if you don’t so
we are aware.

Toddler room
Welcome to spring in the
Toddler room. We have been
doing a lot of spring activities
as we are doing a spring
learning pod. Children have
been learning about flowers,
birds, butterflies
and caterpillars.
Children were very
interested in the
caterpillars which bought us to

ead ‘The very hungry
caterpillar’, this is another pod
we are starting. If anyone has
any ideas or resources we
could use please come and talk
to us. Thankyous to all parents
who have bought in wipes and
tissues these have been greatly
appreciated. We love to be
overwhelmed with these items
and know we have enough to
use on the children.
We have welcomed some new
children into the room this
month and they are settling in
well and will be enjoying lots of
new experiences and making
lots of new friends very soon.
We have wished a
Happy Birthday to
a few brand new
two year olds this
month; the
children and staff have enjoyed
the wonderful birthday cakes
that were bought in for us to
share.
In spring the weather is
warming up and toileting
begins and some children have
initiated toilet training and this
is going very well. If your child
shows initiative we will talk to
you. However, if families would
like to start anyway please
come and see the staff they will
be happy to put it into practice.

Babies Room
What a very busy month
September has been.
We have been having lots of
fun dancing
and singing
along to music.
We also spent
time listing to
our favourite
nursery
rhymes and playing with the
finger puppets. We also like
anything that makes sound and
has wheels that we can push.
PARENTS;
Just a reminder that all items
need to be named this includes
milk bottles and lunch boxers
as we have many bottles and
dummies the same colour and
style that we cannot tell them
apart.
For those of you who have not
yet donated baby wipes and
tissues it is that time again
when we are in need of these
items.
Well till next time we will
continue to keep busy
developing our gross motor
skills; crawling ,rolling, sitting
up ,walking and exploring our
environment though our play.
We are also focusing on our
communication skills through
books songs and discussions.

School aged Children
My name is Miss Jessica and I
would like to introduce myself
as I am the new schoolies
Group Leader. I am very excited
about being their Group Leader
and so far we are all having lots
of fun together.
Lately we have
been learning
about all the
different cultures
in the world. We
have been making
masks and learning
about the Egyptian, Halloween
and even monster masks.
Everyone has also looked into
their backgrounds and found
out what
different races
they are. We
found out the
Miss Jess has
Aboriginal,
African
American, Scottish and English.
I have also
focused on
helping the
children learn
about life cycles
and water cycles.
We all have planted our own
seeds to watch them grow and
to see the tree life cycle first
hand. So far they
have grown about 2
– 3 inches and the
children can’t get
enough time to
watch them grow.
We have planed Monday and
Tuesdays as our homework day
due to the children interest in
getting help with it. When they
don’t have home work I give
out some ‘abc’ and ‘123’
tracing sheets to help all our
children
be
confident
with
them.

MEDICATION POLICY
Medications will only be administered to children during Centre hours when it is absolutely necessary for the
child’s well being. Parents are required to complete the medication form before staff can administer any
medication. This form is to be signed by two authorised staff members, when the medication has been checked
and administered. Staff are permitted to administer oral or skin medications only. Staff are not permitted to give
injections, however if injections are necessary for the welfare of the child, i.e. epilepsy, diabetes, etc, parents
must make arrangements with their medical practitioner and the Director.
ALL MEDICATION MUST BE CLEARLY MARKED WITH THE CHILD’S NAME PRESCRIBED
OR NON-PRESCRIBED MEDICATION.
Please do not leave your child’s medication in his/her bag, as it is easily accessible to children.
PRESCRIBED MEDICATION:
A Director or Assistant Director (or a Group Leader if neither of these are present at the Centre) can administer
prescribed medication, however a letter from the doctor with instructions must be supplied or an accurate and
up to date label on the medication detailing:
• Child’s Name
• Date
• Name of Drug
• Dosage
• Doctor’s Name
• Times to be Administered
NON-PRESCRIBED MEDICATION: (OTHER THAN PARACETAMOL / IBUPROFEN)
A Director or Assistant Director (or a Group Leader if neither of these are present at the Centre) can administer
non-prescribed medication. Administration of a non-prescribed medication must be accompanied by a doctor’s
letter/ chemist label stating:
• Child’s Name
• Date
• Name of Drug
• Dosage
• Doctor’s Name
• Times to be Administered
MEDICATIONS CONTAINING PARACETAMOL/IBUPROFEN:
Medications containing paracetamol/ibuprofen such as Panadol or Nurofen can act to reduce fever, and can
mask signs of infection. As such, these can only be administered at the Centre (other than on an emergency
basis) when accompanied by a doctor’s letter and labelled by a pharmacist. The letter must define the length of
time it is to be administered and in what circumstances eg; three times daily for 1 week from the date.
