Director News
Welcome to another
newsletter, our Centre is filling
up quickly so if you require any
extra days please do this sooner
rather than later. I hope you are
all enjoying the Child Carers
program and if you have any
questions please don’t hesitate
in asking the staff or myself. We
have some exciting happenings
in the coming weeks with some
day camping at the Centre for
the children and also a mad
hatter’s tea party.
Reminders
Please remember to name all of
your child’s belongings, this will
ensure lost property is able to
be given back to the correct
child.
Please remember to send your
child a hat each day and also
ensure they have their
shoulders covered ie no
singlet’s this will help protect
them from the sun.
Nursery-
Hello from the Nursery, hope
everyone had a fantastic Easter.
Our ‘Australian Animals web’
has been going great as we
have hatched out of an egg. A
platypus, an Emu, a frill necked
lizard and a crocodile, all of the
children have all enjoyed
watching them develop and
grow. Our next web is about
‘Animals that Live at the Zoo’ as
one of the children went to the
zoo over Easter, what a great
way to learn about different
animals. If you have any ideas
please feel free to talk Miss
Sandra or Miss Melissa. Please
remember to bring in nappies
and a packet of tissues and
wipes each month.

Toddlers-
Welcome back from your Easter
holiday we hope you all had a
good break, This month in the
Toddler Room we have been
learning about Autumn. We
have noticed children coming
into the Centre with jumpers,
socks and shoes as it is getting
colder, we ask that if you send
your child in warmer clothes
that will need to come off when
the day gets warmer that you
name everything. We have
been making different leaves
for our tree to show the leaves
changing because of the
difference in weather, along
with many more art activities. If
you have any ideas we would
love to hear them please feel
free to come and see Miss Libby
or Miss Jody. We ask that you
please bring in Nappies, Wipes
and a box of tissues each
month. We look forward to
another exciting and fun month
in the toddler room.

Junior Kindy-
We have had a fantastic few
months looking at our A-Z
animals and this month is no
different. We are now up to the
letter E and will shortly be
moving onto the letter F looking

The Australian Institute of Early Childhood Studies (AIECS) is the registered
Training Organisation for the management and staff of Queensland Child Care
Services (QCCS). The training college was established in 2002 to act as the primary
resource for the QCCS staff professional development and training in Childcare
Qualifications. The college is run by a team of dedicated Early Childhood
specialists, each with over 10 years experience in the industry.
AIECS is currently leading the way in training within the industry and the changes
within Queensland. All modules have been reviewed and reflect the new
Regulations.

recently finished making our
very own Elephant so be sure to
check it out in our room on the
toy shelf. If you have any
suggestions or ideas about any
animals that we could be
looking at please feel free to let
Miss Amber or Miss Jacinta
know as all opinions are
welcome.
In the Junior Kindy Room we are
also looking at recycling and
sustainability and how we can
help the environment in any
way possible. We are looking
for recyclable items that we can
use to create many things out
of so if you have any please feel
free to drop them off.
Last but not least, it is starting
to get a little bit colder as we
are heading into winter so it’s
almost time to rug up and keep
warm. Please remember to
name all your children’s
belongings so nothing gets lost
or misplaced.
Miss Amber and Miss Jacinta
Kindy-
In this month’s news we bring
you a story like no other. Whilst
the children from Kindy were
putting Humpty back together,
finding sheep, helping the dish
and the spoon return to the
cow and cat playing the fiddle,
Miss Crystal went in search of
new experiences to share with
Kindy. Upon her return she was
full of information and exciting
stories. As a group they decided
to go on a trip of their own
around the world, visiting as
many places as possible. They
will learn about different
cultures and see how other
people live. They have already
ordered their passports and are
waiting for them to come in the
mail. They have considered all
of the dangers that may cross
their paths but fortunately they
have Humpty will be there as a
body guard armed with
Bopeep’s sheep. They will also
have added back up from
Kindy’s parents should some
Pokémon cross their path
throughout Asia. We will keep
you up to date with their
progress and will have plenty of
interviews when they return.
School Readiness-
Welcome to another exciting
newsletter for the School
Readiness Room, we hope you
all had a wonderful Easter. Over
the last couple of month’s we
have been focusing on letters
A,B,C and D recognition, shapes
and numbers up to 10
recognition with a lot of
experiences being offered to
provide different ways to learn
so the children maintain
interest.
We are learning all there is to
know about recycling and
sustainability and will be
planning to make a garden full
of vegetables, fruits and
flowers. As a part of this garden
plan to make a display using old
shoes to hold our plants any
donations of shoes in any
condition, old pots and pans
would be much appreciated so
we can get this garden
underway.
We have also been very
interested in learning about the
Great Barrier Reef and what
lives in this beautiful
environment. With loads of
ideas being given to us by the
children we are able to create
our own replica of this
wonderful habitat.
As it is coming into winter we
have noticed children arriving in
socks, shoes and jumpers that
are being taken off once they
get warmed up and when we
find them we don’t know who
they belong to please
remember to name ALL items
so we don’t lose any and we can
find their owners.

DENTAL HEALTH POLICY
Dental hygiene forms an important part of the children’s programme, which is why we encourage children to
include dental care as part of their normal day.
METHODS OF DENTAL CARE:
• Giving children water after each meal to rinse mouths.
• Encouraging children to eat a balanced diet, including fresh fruit and vegetables.
• Giving sugary foods as “sometimes” foods, and for special occasions.
• Discussing dental hygiene with the children, and providing parents with information on oral hygiene and use
of a Dental Prop Box.
With this Prop Box educators explain simply and demonstrate correct teeth cleaning procedures with the
children.
IN REGARD TO BABIES
To ensure that babies’ teeth grow strong and healthy the following practices are followed:
• Only give bottles at feed time or when the child is thirsty, and remove the bottle when the child finishes.
Children are not to walk around with bottles.
• Replace the bottle with a cup or straw when the child is ready, and endeavour not to return to the bottle after
the successful transition has been made.
• Use water instead of cordials and encourage parent to do so.
• Discourage putting babies to bed with a bottle or leaving the bottle in the cot with the baby.
