MEGT AUSTRALIAN APPRENTICESHIPS CENTRE DIVISION<br />

Assistant Administration Manager (NSW, QLD & VIC)<br />

Objectives of the Division:<br />

MEGT Australian Apprenticeships Centre (AAC) is contracted to the Australian government through the<br />

Department of Industry, Innovation, Climate Change, Science, Research and Tertiary Education<br />

(DIICCSRTE) to market and administer the Australian Apprenticeships Support Services Programme.<br />

MEGT’s Australian Apprenticeships Centres offer a free service to all employers, apprentices and trainees.<br />

We provide assistance to employers and their apprentices/trainees by:<br />

completing and lodging National Training Contracts with the State Training Authority<br />

determining eligibility for participation and government funding<br />

processing incentive payments to employers (where applicable)<br />

providing advice to employers and Australian Apprentices on relevant training packages<br />

monitoring the progress of the Australian Apprenticeship.<br />

Our staff visit workplaces to answer any queries regarding Apprenticeships and Traineeships. Assistance in<br />

completing all paperwork, advice on training options and the payment of Commonwealth incentives are just<br />

some of the services provided.<br />

Objectives of the Position:<br />

This is a crucial role within MEGT (Australia) Ltd, (MEGT). MEGT’s team of National Business Services<br />

Managers are a dynamic, professional team, integral to the management of MEGT Australian<br />

Apprenticeships Centre (AAC) Division. They have the responsibility of the delivery of MEGT’s Australian<br />

Apprenticeships Support Services (AASS) Contract as specified by the Commonwealth Department of<br />

Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIICCSRTE).<br />

Drive, passion, positive attitude and a performance improvement focus are critical in this role. A self-starter<br />

who can efficiently manage time frames and a person who is able to work collaboratively with various levels<br />

of management will find this a challenging and empowering role. Supervisory and leadership skills must be<br />

demonstrated as well as a passion for performance improvement. The ability to influence the performance<br />

of individuals of varying skill set levels is imperative to this role.<br />

Reporting to the State Administration Manager<br />

Leading a team of AAC administration staff and support staff as required<br />

Work co-operatively with the State Manager, State and National Sales teams, Business<br />

Relationships Managers, Administration and other State Assistant Administration Managers and<br />

Administration Team Leaders<br />

Overseeing the performance of a number staff within the designated Central Processing Unit(CPU)<br />

Maintaining relationships with the Group Training network, employers, Government<br />

instrumentalities, VET training providers, State Training Authorities, Secondary schools and any<br />

other services and organisations involved in providing AASS<br />

Experience in the development and implementation of system improvement initiatives<br />

Ability to develop relationships and a capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast pace<br />

Relevant Management experience in the VET environment.<br />

Responsibilities and Duties:<br />

1. Assist the Administration Manager in the management and operations of the CPU<br />

2. Assist the Administration Manager with all aspects of performance management<br />

3. Operate as the conduit for all Administration staff in relation to communication with the<br />

Administration Manager<br />

4. Coordinate and develop effective team communication<br />

5. Oversee the Administration Support Team functions within the designated CPU.<br />

6. Analyse the performance of staff and identify training and other staff development needs and<br />

coordinate training where appropriate<br />

7. Maintain an up to date knowledge of all relevant legislation, regulations and Government policies<br />

that affect the AAC and the employment of trainees and apprentices and ensure such knowledge is<br />

available to staff within the<br />

8. Assist the AAC Administration Manager in determining the necessary staffing for the team and<br />

assist in the interviewing and appointments process<br />

9. Ensure that the team meets all the performance indicators and timeframes established and<br />

complies with the legislative and regulatory requirements by supervising staff performance and<br />

monitoring performance against the required indicators<br />

10. Develop staff personally & professionally<br />

11. Assist in the development of AAC Administration Initiatives by analysing the service provided to<br />

determine the potential to improve.<br />

12. Provide appropriate support to AAC Business Relationships Consultants by ensuring that all AAC<br />

Administrative staff are trained in all aspects of the program to offer full support to MEGT field staff<br />

Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)<br />

Responsibilities:<br />

All staff are required to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of other personnel<br />

who may be affected by their conduct.<br />

All Managers and Supervisors will require further statements re their responsibilities for direct reports.<br />

Australian Federal Police Check:<br />

All AAC staff will be required to undertake an Australian Federal Police (AFP) National Police Check and<br />

any State/Territory Working with Children Check (where applicable). A clearance to work with children in<br />

connection with the delivery of AASS is mandatory.<br />
