Life in General MGH Lab Receives National Accreditation The accreditation committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded accreditation to MGH Diagnostics-Northwood based on the results of a recent on-site inspection. The laboratory’s director, Dean Ricks, M.D., was advised of this national recognition and was congratulated for the excellent services the laboratory provides. MGH Diagnostics-Northwood joins more than 7,000 laboratories worldwide that are CAP-accredited. CAP is the world’s largest association composed exclusively of board-certified pathologists and is widely considered the leader in laboratory quality assurance. The federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program as being equal to or more stringent than its own inspection program. During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, as well as the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program and record, in addition to the overall management. This stringent inspection program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients. New Providers Join MGH Connie M. Plush Toys Comfort Children During Their Hospital Stays They are cute, cuddly, fluffy and free to inpatient pediatric unit patients, ages 1 to 10. What are they? Pillow Pets!
