The role of the Nevada T Center
therefore is more important than ever.
It provides real world examples of how
new ways of building and maintaining
roadways can pay off for local highway
departments and improve safety and

The Mission

The mission of the Nevada T Center is to
provide training and technical assistance
for transportation personnel to help them
build and maintain better, safer and more
cost-effective transportation facilities.
Successfully meeting these objectives
involves applying proven solutions and
innovative approaches.
Our goal is to deliver and diversify relevant
quality customer services, use new
technologies and approaches to deliver
training and communicate the Center’s
value to its partners and customers.

The Nevada T Center library gives or loans
any of the publications, videos and CDs
listed in the Reference Catalog found on our
Web site at www.t2.unr.edu. In addition, the
staff is available to do a computer search on
any transportation topic or to identify for you
an expert on any transportation-related
Nevada Milepost is a quarterly newsletter
intended to provide transportation
information you can use on the job.
Knowing how busy you are, the quarterly is
designed to be an easy read. The articles
get right to the point in a clear and concise
manner. The layout is not only designed to
be dramatic but also to help the reader
identify information at a glance.
StreetWise is a periodical that reports in
detail on a topic that is too long to run in the
Nevada Milepost. The pieces are adapted
and rewritten from other sources.
Roads Scholar Program
Enrollment in the Roads Scholar Program
has grown rapidly since its inception in
1994. To become a Roads Scholar, you
need to attend 10 designated one-day
workshops during a six-year period. Upon
completion of the Roads Scholar program,

the Nevada T Center gives you a certificate
of completion and notifies your supervisor
in writing of your achievement.
The program makes transportation
professionals, like yourself, more
knowledgeable. To obtain a registration

The main priority of the Nevada T Center is
its training workshops offered through-out
the state. Usually one day in length, they
provide participants the opportunity to learn
from experts and to exchange ideas.
Workshop topics range from pavement
design and snow removal to roadway
drainage and summer survival. Workshops
are offered for a nominal cost, and includes
a continental breakfast, lunch and
handouts. The public is notified of
upcoming workshops by three means:
1) A brochure on each workshop is
mailed
2) Inserts in the Nevada Milepost
3) On the web site at www.t2.unr.edu
