Winter Survival<br />
Workshop Description<br />
This workshop shows you how<br />
to prepare mentally and physically if<br />
you become stranded in a life threatening<br />
winter storm. You learn what<br />
attitude and equipment are needed<br />
to survive the cold. You also will find<br />
out how to recognize symptoms <strong>of</strong><br />
hypothermia and how to treat them.<br />

Who Should Attend?<br />
Anyone who is exposed to <strong>Nevada</strong>’s<br />
severe winter weather, especially<br />
snowplow operators and other<br />
transportation workers who are at risk<br />
<strong>of</strong> becoming trapped in bad weather<br />
or who may need to <strong>of</strong>fer emergency<br />
treatment to stranded motorists.<br />
Instructor<br />
The instructor will be Steve Jenkins.<br />
He is the Director <strong>of</strong> the Technology Transfer<br />
<strong>Center</strong> in Montana. Steve’s interest in survival<br />
started many years ago and has evolved<br />
into well practiced and developed methods <strong>of</strong><br />
survival. He will teach you things that anyone<br />
can do to insure safety in their jobs,<br />
home and recreation. Steve has been required<br />
to use and perfect his winter survival<br />
skills and has had to spend several cold winter<br />
nights stranded in his automobile.<br />
