Congratulations to Christie McKay, our
Director of Education, and her committed team
for the recent re-certification of our Education
Strengthens Families (ESF) Public Charter
School for five more years.
This accomplishment is even more special after
the extraordinary report given by the
evaluators who described the program as
exemplary and unique for the work done with
our families and the amazing outcomes.
The ESF charter school is the ‘education’ component of
our three-legged stool that makes our social change
model so successful.

We urge you to inform your participants about
the changes that TANF (Temporary Assistance for
Needy Families) is going through this year. TANF
is a federal program that provides cash assistance
to families in need. In 2012, the program will
have changes for new applicants and for recertifications.
It is important that you help inform
the families to avoid their loss of benefits.

On January 24, Mary’s Center hosted a
forum at the Georgia site with the
Department of Human Services and the
Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs (OLA) to
inform the community about the changes in
TANF.

We invite you to visit our Ontario
site and see the new health kiosk
donated by UnitedHealthCare. This
new kiosk provides our participants
with health information on topics of
interest to them. The kiosk is
bilingual in Spanish and English.
Please encourage patients to use it!
