The annual Shodair/Children's Miracle
Network telethon is fast approaching. The broadcast,
featured on CBS television affiliates around the state, will air
Saturday, May 30, starting at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 11:05 p.m.
that evening. The telethon broadcast will be continuous, except
for breaks from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 pm for golf coverage, and for
early and late newscasts (5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and
10:00 p.m. - 10:35 p.m.).

Saturday, May 30
The telethon has been a staple of Shodair fundraising events
for many years. The eleven-hour event is broadcast live from the
hospital each year, and features segments from the national
Children's Miracle Network Celebration.
The event brings people together from around the state in an
effort to show and tell the story of the important work done at
Shodair Children's Hospital, and to introduce some of the patients
and families whose lives have been changed as a result of it. It's
a labor of love for a broad-ranging, caring group of people who
work tirelessly to build support and generate donations to ensure
those vital services remain available.
Television personalities from around the state come to Helena
to act as on-air hosts, and area service groups and supporters
volunteer their time on the phone banks throughout the day.
Children's Miracle Network corporate sponsors located in
Montana also take part, by volunteering or participating in check
presentations throughout the day. Helena businesses donate food
to feed the hungry army, and hospital employees work overtime
to ensure the event is a success.

One host, well-known to the Montana broadcast industry, is
Dan Snyder, now of Kalispell. Dan has been a host for Shodair
since the telethon's first broadcast in 1989. A long-time on-air
favorite, Dan will again be an anchor for this year's event.

Across America, will be on hand, along with patients, families,
and Shodair staff who will share stories of challenges faced and
triumphs won over psychiatric and genetic conditions.
In addition to offering residents a chance to support Montana's
only Children's Miracle network hospital, the telethon is an
opportunity for Shodair to recognize and thank its many
supporters. Donors large and small are recognized on air for
their important contributions. Shodair is a non-profit hospital,
and depends on the help of all of its generous supporters—from
Children's Miracle Network sponsors to individuals who donate
what they can, when they can.
