University of Minho
The University of Minho (UM) was founded in Braga in
1973 and was part of Título a group do painel called posterior New Universities that
changed the scenario of higher education in Portugal. It
began its academic activities in 1975/76.
Since the beginning, despite being a young University,
millennial academic traditions of religious origins were
bestowed on the university from the academic clothing,
the Enterro da Gata festivals and the 1 st of December, as
well as the city libraries.
Braga
Braga is the oldest Portuguese city and one of the oldest
Christian cities of the world; founded in roman times as
Bracara Augusta, it has more than 2000 years of History
as a city.
Chosen as the European Youth Capital in 2012, it is a city
full of culture and traditions, where History and religion
live side by side with technological industry and higher
education. It is commonly known as the City of the
Archbishops.

On the Gualtar Campus, a cafeteria facility with Grill service
will be open for lunch all month on weekdays, with meals for
a price of 5-6€.
Regarding dinner, Braga offers a huge variety of restaurants
throughout the city with reasonable prices around 7-8€.
The sports services on the Gualtar Campus will be Opened
during weekdays with the following timetable:
- Fitness gym, sauna and Turkish bath: 10.30am to 1.30
pm and 5.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
- Rhythm activities (Dance and Cycling): Mondays and
Wednesdays from 7.15pm to 8.00pm
- Cycling, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7.15pm to
8.00pm

The access to sports services is costless!
Accommodation
The Loyd Braga residence is located 5 minutes on foot from
the University and 10 minutes from the historical city centre of
Braga. City bicycles are also available for these trips free of
charge.
All rooms have, TV, refrigerator and individual bathroom.
Bed linen and towels are included.
Breakfast is not included.

The conditions of service for accommodation (price per person,
IVA included) are:
- Accommodation per day: double room - 12 € / single room -
18 €
- Accommodation per week (6 nights with departure at 12:30):
double room - 40 € / single room - 60 €
- Accommodation for two weeks (12 nights with departure at
12:30): double room - 70 € / single room - 100 €
- Just across the street from the residence there are several
cafés, perfectly suitable for breakfast.
- Free access to wireless Internet is available in the computer
room.
- The Laundry will be available on a self-service area (inhouse).
- In the period of stay, the room cleanliness is the responsibility
of each of its occupants.
