For several years now, CHiEF has been successfully
deployed by many companies for monitoring and
automation of all host and server systems (z/OS,
MVS, OS/390, VM/VSE, OS/400, BS2000, OSD,

etc.), individual application programs, Internet-based

CHiEF WEB-Shop-Monitor
The CHiEF WEB Shop Monitor offers automatic
management and monitoring of WEB shops and
offers the provides features:
� Automatic logging into WEB shop.
� Processing of online orders in the WEB
shop.
� This enables among other things monitoring
of availability and loading times.

CHiEF interacts with the systems that are being
monitored just like a competent user. All commands,
transactions, programs, etc. of the systems are
available. This, in turn, enables quick understanding
of the CHiEF application, short training and
implementation time, generally about 2 days and a
high level of acceptance by the employees.
Using the easy to learn CHiEF scripting language, the
users themselves decide, which events are to be
automated or which of them are to trigger alerts.
Generally, the convenient alerts are person, team or
shift oriented with acknowledgement by phone (incl.
voice output via individual *.wav files or direct text-tospeech),
mobile phones, SMS, Cityruf, email,
Netmessage, sound card, etc. All are, of course,
date/time dependent with different escalation levels.
For different service groups the database-oriented
Group Service Plan (GSP) with rights-based
management of persons, dates, etc. can also be
used.

The communication between CHiEF and the systems
that are to be monitored takes place agent-less via
TCP/IP.
Complete database functionality allows storing of
individual information in SQL databases and analysis
by the CHiEF Analyser InfoZoom or by any existing
reporting tools at a later date.
Safety features like CHiEF Mirroring and dynamic
Dial-out Management enable uninterrupted system
management even during failure of the CHiEF's
hardware and software.
The deployment of CHiEF leads to a significant
reduction in the employee's workload and to
increased productivity and safety of the monitored
systems.
The inexpensive CHiEF license offers a measurable

In the example given, CHiEF
calls the page of the Internet
bookshop AMAZON and carries
out authorization using the user
name (email address) and
password.
This approach enables CHiEF to
check if access to a specific
page on the Internet or Intranet
is possible and it can then
monitor the process chain right
from logging on to the site
through to placing an order. And
of course the connection times
are logged at the same time. In
case the limit is exceeded or
pages are unavailable, an alert is
sent out.
