Home away from home . . . . .<br />

Considering, academic excellence with a laid emphasis on development of a scientific<br />

temper and enhancement of our rich Indian values as a way of life at IIS, a large<br />

number of outstation students wish to be a part of its community. The school started<br />

the boarding <strong>facility</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>girls</strong> (only from Class V upwards) from the session 2010-2011.<br />

About the <strong>Hostel</strong><br />

The hostel is located in the school campus.<br />

Accommodation:<br />

Mess:<br />

• Dormitory <strong>facility</strong> till Class VII.<br />

• Com<strong>for</strong>tably furnished rooms <strong>for</strong> triple sharing <strong>for</strong> Class VIII upwards.<br />

• There will be a constant supervision and monitoring by the trained staff<br />

on the students activity with emphasis on safety of the student.<br />

• The hostel is spread in three floors and they are named as per the colour<br />

of the floor. Pink Floor is Ruby House, Blue Floor is Sapphire House and<br />

Green Floor is Emerald House.<br />

• A matron is appointed on each floor to monitor the day to day activities<br />

of boarders and keep a check on their daily schedule.<br />

• Clean, hygienic & well maintained mess where nutritious meals specially<br />

worked out by a trained dietician will be available.<br />

• Clean modern kitchen supervised constantly to maintain the highest<br />

hygienic standards.<br />

• The school dining hall has a provision <strong>for</strong> dining strength <strong>for</strong> 200 <strong>girls</strong><br />

where breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner are served.<br />

• Faculty members dine with the students and supervise their eating<br />

habits, table manners & etiquettes.<br />

Health & Medical Care:<br />

• Well equipped infirmary <strong>for</strong> <strong>girls</strong> with a full time nurse and doctor on call.<br />

• RO system is installed in the hostel to provide safe and pure drinking<br />

water on each floor.<br />

• All boarders are given Tulsi leaves along with water to improve their<br />

immunity power.


Academics:<br />

• There will be supervised study hours to maintain excellent academic<br />

standards.<br />

• All boarders will belong to a small tutor group led by a faculty who will<br />

be responsible <strong>for</strong> the welfare and academic progress.<br />

Sports & Activities:<br />

• For a healthy body and to inculcate the competitive sporting spirit there will<br />

be a wide array of games and hobby classes.<br />

• All boarders are encouraged to participate in yoga and meditation sessions.<br />

• Once in a while on holidays the students will be taken on guided tours to<br />

places of interest.<br />

• There is a mini library where <strong>girls</strong> can indulge in reading.<br />

• The common room will have a T.V. cable connected with restricted channel<br />

viewing.<br />

• The common room has various indoor games facilities such as Carrom<br />

Board, Table Tennis, and Chess etc.<br />

• Outdoor games facilities are available in the hostel premises.<br />

• Computer <strong>facility</strong> is available in the hostel study room<br />

• Hostlers can enjoy a monthly outing accompanied by the <strong>Hostel</strong> Warden.<br />

• All boarders are allowed to celebrate their birthdays in the hostel. They are<br />

allowed to hold a dance party among their roommates and a special dinner<br />

is provided on such events.<br />

• In the night assembly be<strong>for</strong>e dinner the boarders would offer prayers/Aarti<br />

reciting prayer of the god specific.

Computer Fee: @ Rs.200/- quarterly (<strong>for</strong> Class KG I to X)<br />

Practical Fee:<br />

@150/- per subject, per installment (<strong>for</strong> Class XI and XII)<br />

Advance Cheques: second 1 st July, 2010, third 1 st October, 2010 & fourth<br />

1 st January, 2011 instalment by Post Dated Cheques (PDC)<br />

deposited at the time of First Instalment.<br />

Imprest Money: Rs. 5000/-<br />

Bills pertaining to School Stores, Sundry/Travel/Miscellaneous Expenses, Hospital Expenses,<br />

Books/Stationary/Uni<strong>for</strong>m expenses will be raised and sent separately.<br />

• Late fee of Rs. 50/- per day (inclusive of holidays) will be charged<br />

thereafter.<br />

• No deduction will be given <strong>for</strong> days of absence.<br />

• No fee paid will be refunded except the refundable caution deposit which<br />

will be refunded when the pupil leaves the <strong>Hostel</strong>. One month’s notice in<br />

writing is required <strong>for</strong> return of Caution Deposit. The original receipt has to<br />

be surrendered with the application <strong>for</strong> refund. The refund cheque will be<br />

issued in the same name as mentioned in the receipt.<br />

• Discontinuance from <strong>Hostel</strong> will be effective only from the beginning of a<br />

calendar month, with one month’s prior written notice.


General Rules:<br />

• All students must reach the school or leave it on the prescribed dates accompanied<br />

by parents/guardians.<br />

• All residential students should have the prescribed clothing and books.<br />

• On Sunday mornings hostlers are permitted to listen to music of their choices on a<br />

music system, however on other days only playing devotional songs is allowed.<br />

• Hostlers are allowed to call up their parents on Saturday and Sunday only.<br />

• Leaving the hostel without prior permission is strictly prohibited and anyone doing<br />

so will be dealt with strictly.<br />

• Parents/guardians can visit their wards only with prior permission.<br />

• Bringing items and clothing not prescribed to the hostel is strictly prohibited and all<br />

such items will be confiscated.<br />

• Bringing electronic gadgets and cash is not permissible in the hostel premises. Any<br />

such items found by the <strong>Hostel</strong> Warden with the boarders will be entitled <strong>for</strong><br />

confiscation.<br />

• Local guardians, if any or visiting parents are not allowed to visit the child more<br />

than twice a month only on certain Sundays or school holidays and that too<br />

subject to the Principal’s discretion.<br />

• During term time, students are allowed out only <strong>for</strong> the weddings of blood<br />

brothers or sisters. Cousins even in joint families do not qualify. For such<br />

occasions the child is allowed to spend two nights at home plus travel time<br />

provided the school gets advance notice and clear-cut travel plans.<br />

• Visiting/going home <strong>for</strong> any kind of emergencies in the family will be permitted at<br />

the discretion of the Principal.<br />

• The school does not believe in corporal punishment.<br />

• Parents are welcome to visit the school hostel to discuss their wards<br />

per<strong>for</strong>mance/problems with the <strong>Hostel</strong> Warden/<strong>Hostel</strong> Coordinator on all working<br />

days with prior intimation, please.
