In many locations, regulations require a proportion of personnel<br />

to be locally sourced. For more than a decade, <strong>GAC</strong> <strong>Manning</strong><br />

Services has combined the best of local resources and overseas<br />

training to provide local marine crew, as well as cadets, specialists<br />

like mooring masters and officers for marine operations related<br />

to energy projects in <strong>Nigeria</strong>, Ghana, Togo and Benin.<br />

Excellent industry relationships<br />

<strong>GAC</strong> <strong>Manning</strong> Services sources deck crew from the <strong>Nigeria</strong>n<br />

Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) pool and<br />

their own extensive network. Such crew are duly certified, have<br />

received basic training and hold all the relevant, valid papers.<br />

The company also has more than 70 cadets on its books, sourced<br />

through extensive interviews and testing at the Maritime<br />

Academy of <strong>Nigeria</strong> in Oron. Training is also coordinated through<br />

the Regional Maritime University in Ghana, SAMTRA in South<br />

Africa, NMCI in Ireland and SOLENT in the UK.<br />

For officers, the company works closely with <strong>GAC</strong> Training &<br />

Service Solutions (GTSS), a joint venture between <strong>GAC</strong> and the<br />

National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) to provide specialist<br />

training. Merchant Navy Courses provided include specialised<br />

training for oil, LNG and chemical tanker operations.
