Maurizio Fabrizio<br />
Maurizio Fabrizio, one of Italy's<br />
most prominent composers, has<br />
recently penned songs for Eros<br />
Ramazzotti, Mina, Renato Zero,<br />
and Safina, among others. One of<br />
his songs, "Alla Luce Del Sole," is<br />
featured in Josh Groban's first<br />
album for Warner Bros. Produced<br />
by David Foster, the album sold 2<br />
millions copies in the U.S. and<br />
500,000 units in foreign markets.<br />
Star Academy &<br />
Hocine Halat<br />
The compilation from the hit TV show Star<br />
Academy has been certified 3X platinum, selling<br />
over 1.1 million copies in France. UMPG controls<br />
8 out of 14 tracks. Jenifer Bartoli, the winner of<br />
the TV game show, had a No. 2 hit single, "Au<br />
Soleil," written by UMPG France songwriter<br />
Hocine Hallaf. The single remained Top 5 on the<br />
charts for months and has been certified gold.<br />
Her self-titled debut album is platinum in<br />
France, selling over 800,000 units.<br />
Jean-Pascal<br />
Jean-Pascal's first single "L'Agitateur" is platinum<br />
in France, selling over 600,000 units. The<br />
album, Qui es-tu?, has been certified gold, having<br />
sold more than 100,000 copies its first week.<br />
Popstars<br />
The TV program Popstars has yet another success<br />
story with the release of the self-titled<br />
album, L5. The CD has sold over 1.3 million<br />
copies in France, attaining diamond status.<br />
UMPG France controls 8 of the 12 tracks.<br />
Italy<br />
Francesco Renga<br />
One of summer’s hottest acts, Francesco<br />
Renga signed to UMPG Italy. Renga took<br />
part in the 2002 Sanremo Festival with great<br />
response from both the public and the critics.<br />
The former frontman of the rock band<br />
Timoria, Renga started his solo career in<br />
1999. Released last year, his sophomore<br />
album, Tracce, sold more than 60,000.<br />
Spain<br />
Manu Tenorio<br />
Manu Tenorio's self-titled album debuted at No.<br />
1 on the <strong>Music</strong> Week album chart. The CD has<br />
sold over 500,000 units. The album spent<br />
more than six weeks in the Top 2 positions.<br />
UMPG Spain controls 10 of the 12 tracks.
