issues and comments raised <strong>in</strong> the <strong>in</strong>itial phases <strong>of</strong> engagement would be kept on<br />
record and would be revisited <strong>in</strong> the EIA process.<br />
A representative <strong>of</strong> the shipp<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>dustry asked that the process be run as quickly<br />
and efficiently as possible. He stressed that implementation <strong>of</strong> the proposed<br />
expansion must beg<strong>in</strong> as soon as possible as already their <strong>in</strong>dustry is be<strong>in</strong>g affected<br />
by a lack <strong>of</strong> capacity. They hope for a quick decision on this development.<br />
The Forum<br />
Follow<strong>in</strong>g a request from the facilitator for any concerns regard<strong>in</strong>g the pr<strong>in</strong>ciple <strong>of</strong><br />
sett<strong>in</strong>g up <strong>of</strong> the proposed forum as presented <strong>in</strong> the presentation, no objections or<br />
issues were raised.<br />
A participant requested that representatives <strong>of</strong> the road transport sector be added to<br />
the list <strong>of</strong> proposed stakeholders to be <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> the forum.<br />
4. Next Steps<br />
The facilitator described the next steps <strong>in</strong> the participation process. Firstly, a record<br />
<strong>of</strong> the public meet<strong>in</strong>g would be distributed to all participants <strong>of</strong> the meet<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
Thereafter, the facilitators would contact the various stakeholder sectors that are to<br />
be <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> the forum. The outcome <strong>of</strong> these meet<strong>in</strong>gs will be the establishment <strong>of</strong><br />
a forum <strong>of</strong> stakeholders. The second phase <strong>of</strong> the participation process will beg<strong>in</strong><br />
when the EIA is <strong>in</strong>itiated. This is scheduled to beg<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> the second half <strong>of</strong> 2007.<br />
5. Closure<br />
The facilitator thanked all participants for attend<strong>in</strong>g the meet<strong>in</strong>g. He welcomed all<br />
comments, questions and issues, which should be directed to Common Ground by<br />
