A representative of the shipping industry asked that the process be run as quickly
and efficiently as possible. He stressed that implementation of the proposed
expansion must begin as soon as possible as already their industry is being affected
by a lack of capacity. They hope for a quick decision on this development.
The Forum
Following a request from the facilitator for any concerns regarding the principle of
setting up of the proposed forum as presented in the presentation, no objections or
issues were raised.
A participant requested that representatives of the road transport sector be added to
the list of proposed stakeholders to be included in the forum.
4. Next Steps
The facilitator described the next steps in the participation process. Firstly, a record
of the public meeting would be distributed to all participants of the meeting.
Thereafter, the facilitators would contact the various stakeholder sectors that are to
be included in the forum. The outcome of these meetings will be the establishment of
a forum of stakeholders. The second phase of the participation process will begin
when the EIA is initiated. This is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2007.
5. Closure
The facilitator thanked all participants for attending the meeting. He welcomed all
comments, questions and issues, which should be directed to Common Ground by

meeting by expressing his anticipation for further engagement in the future.
