This has been a wonderful year creating new memories at
the Club. I speak on behalf of the entire staff at Tiburón
when I say thank you for the great season. Our club events
have grown and they wouldn’t have done so without your
attendance and support. Over the summer months, I will
be busy planning our calendar of events for the 2007/2008
season. I look forward to offering some of the same activities
and am very excited to introduce new activities. Visit our

Rules Question of the Month

Q
A
How do I obtain proper relief when my swing or stance
is affected by a sprinkler or drain?
Rule #24 Provides the following Relief:
Except when the ball is in a water hazard or a lateral
water hazard, a player may take relief from interference by an
immovable obstruction as follows:
Through the green: If the ball lies through the green, the player
must lift the ball and drop it without penalty within one clublength
of and not nearer the hole than the nearest point of relief.
The nearest point of relief must not be in a hazard or on a
putting green. When the ball is dropped within one club-length
of the nearest point of relief, the ball must first strike a part of
the course at a spot that avoids interference by the immovable
obstruction and is not in a hazard and not on a putting green.

Golf Professionals for an illustration.

Fire Danger – High
We are midway through Southwest Florida’s dry season.
Sunny days with wind and low humidity are common at this
time of year. These climatic conditions combine to produce a
very dry environment. Our native pine straw areas around the
courses are especially dry and can be set on fire by careless
disposal of a cigarette or cigar. Please be very careful when
smoking on the golf courses. Rainy season normally begins
around June 15th.

Bike Tours will be back by
Popular Demand
Members enjoyed a lovely afternoon of leisure bike riding through Bear
Island Wilderness Preserve during the month of March to observe wildlife,
native plants, and the beautiful scenery. We were provided with Cannondale
bicycles and binoculars when we set out for this adventure. And…what
an adventure it was! It was an Audubon Tour on bikes with a friendly,
knowledgeable, and enthusiastic guide. We traveled through freshwater
marshes, cypress swamps, wet and dry prairies, and rare tropical hardwood
hammocks. The trip is only $90 per person and we will be scheduling a few
trips next season. Keep your eyes open for upcoming dates. Be sure not to
miss the fun - but only if you are not afraid of alligators! To check out even
