As <strong>the</strong> popularity of <strong>the</strong> game for <strong>girls</strong> and women continues to go from strength to<br />
strength, <strong>the</strong> demand for a dedicated, qualified workforce of coaches and support staff is<br />
crucial to ensure <strong>the</strong> adequate provision and positive development of our players.<br />
In 2009, a unique partnership will see each of <strong>the</strong> four County <strong>Football</strong> <strong>Association</strong>s from<br />
Yorkshire running a series of coach mentoring schemes for individuals involved with<br />
<strong>the</strong> female game.<br />
Throughout April and May, West Riding, North Riding, East Riding and<br />
Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA’s will stage a wide range of events.<br />
<strong>The</strong> aim of <strong>the</strong>se events is to increase <strong>the</strong> knowledge and<br />
confidence amongst <strong>the</strong>ir active coaches, and offer ongoing<br />
advice and support regardless of qualifications.<br />
If you are a coach involved with <strong>the</strong> female game, aged 16<br />
years and above and interested in getting <strong>the</strong> very best<br />
advice and guidance from <strong>the</strong> games top coaches, <strong>the</strong>n sign<br />
up for one or more of <strong>the</strong> events.<br />

Sports Science Session with Dawn Scott (England Sports Scientist)<br />
Dawn will be working with Leeds Carnegie Ladies FC players to demonstrate how to use<br />
sports science practically in a coaching programme. Dawn will talk about <strong>the</strong> importance of<br />
hydration and nutrition in a footballer’s diet as well as show some fitness testing examples.<br />

Long Term Player Development (LTPD) evening with Julie Callaghan (FA Skills Coach Team Leader)<br />
Watch a coaching session that uses <strong>the</strong> latest coaching techniques, looks at individual and<br />
group work, and includes child guided discovery with Sheffield United Girls Centre of<br />
Excellence players.<br />

Thursday 30th April<br />
1. 5-11 Age Specific Coaching Demonstration by East Riding County FA Skills Coaches<br />
An opportunity to observe <strong>the</strong> content of football sessions aimed at younger players as<br />
well as <strong>the</strong> coaching styles adopted by coaches to suit this age group to maximise <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
learning and development.<br />
2. Open Age Demonstration with Julie Chipchase (Regional Coach Development Manager)<br />
Julie will be delivering a coaching session to York City Ladies FC and will demonstrate how<br />
to move a session from technique and skill based practices to a small sided game.<br />
3. Goalkeeping Demonstration from Rachel Brown (England Women’s Goalkeeper)<br />
This session will provide coaches with a rare opportunity to observe a coaching session<br />
focusing entirely on <strong>the</strong> goalkeeper delivered by one of <strong>the</strong> countries top female players.<br />

Monday 4th May<br />
Women’s FA Cup Final including a match analysis task taken from <strong>the</strong> FA Level 3<br />
Coaching Award<br />
You will be shown how to analyse <strong>the</strong> possession, shots on target and set plays of each team. You will <strong>come</strong><br />
up with action points for each team at half time and be asked to produce a session plan based on<br />
weaknesses at full time.<br />

Practical coaching demonstration with Hope Powell (England Women’s National Coach)<br />
and Rachel Pavlou (National Development Manager for Women’s <strong>Football</strong>)<br />
Working with Leeds United and West Riding Girl’s Centre of Excellence U16 players, Hope Powell will deliver<br />
a practical coaching session. Hope will talk through her session involving a full warm-up, main content and<br />
cool-down. Rachel Pavlou will <strong>the</strong>n conduct a short presentation on <strong>the</strong> Women’s <strong>Football</strong> Strategy. <strong>The</strong><br />
evening will finish with a Question & Answer session<br />
