The Location<br />

The region comprises the City of Aschaffenburg and the<br />

districts (Landkreise) of Aschaffenburg and miltenberg.<br />

On a surface of 1,478 square kilometres live 369,249<br />

people in 65 towns and villages. This corresponds to a<br />

population density of 250 inhabitants per square kilometre<br />

(30 September 2012)<br />

Among the 132,104 employees, 52,562 (40 %) were<br />

working in the production sector and 70,582 (53 %) in<br />

the service sector on 30 June 2012.<br />

Within the competence fields of automation & mechatronics<br />

(including measuring/controlling) automotive,<br />

logistics and IT are outstanding.<br />

Transport link:<br />

Road: The area is located near the autobahn A3 (Frankfurt - Würzburg). The nearest<br />

autobahn connection Marktheidenfeld is 13 km away (no through road); the exit ist 15 km<br />

away. Faulbach has since 2012 a very well-constructed bypass.<br />

Waterway: The area is on the right bank of the river Main and has a loading and<br />

unloading unit between Main-km 149.050 and 149.400. The river Main offers an access to<br />

the waterway network in central Europe and enables water transport from East to West<br />

via the Main-Danube-Canal.<br />

Railway: In the south, the area borders on the river Main. Near the banks of the river is<br />

the regional railway line Aschaffenburg-Miltenberg-Wertheim-Lauda. The gravel plant<br />

used to have its own industrial rail of 800 m. The nearest ICE train station is in<br />

Aschaffenburg.<br />

Air: The airport Frankfurt/Main is about 75 km away. Moreover, there is an airport in<br />

Mainbullau (home of the aviation club Flugsportclub Miltenberg e.V.).
