Foreword<br />
The comprehensive review <strong>of</strong> <strong>Land</strong> <strong>Registry</strong> terms in 2004 that<br />
came about following implementation <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Land</strong> Registration Act<br />
2002 and the <strong>Land</strong> Registration Rules 2003 has meant that there<br />
has been little need to update the <strong>Glossary</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Legal</strong> <strong>Terms</strong> in the<br />
intervening years. The time has now come, however, to prepare a<br />
new edition to add some terms (Statement <strong>of</strong> Truth; Prescribed<br />
Clauses Lease) and to bring <strong>Land</strong> <strong>Registry</strong>’s term for ‘Commonhold’<br />
into line with that used by the National Assembly.<br />
This new edition will not be produced in paper format but will be<br />
available online on <strong>Land</strong> <strong>Registry</strong>’s website at<br />
www.landregistry.gov.uk This not only reflects the economic<br />
constraints currently in force but also means that ad hoc updates<br />
can be made to the document at any time without having to<br />
produce a new edition.<br />
The <strong>Glossary</strong> is produced under <strong>Land</strong> <strong>Registry</strong>’s Welsh Language<br />
Scheme and has proved popular with practitioners who practice<br />
through the medium <strong>of</strong> Welsh. The content is not intended to be<br />
exhaustive and we would welcome any suggestions for terms to be<br />
