Accumulating mass HSS<br />

Accumulating heat exchangers (Heat Storage System - HSS)<br />

are made of ceramic materials with big heat storage capacity.<br />

Their function is to recover <strong>and</strong> accumulate energy from<br />

exhaust gases. HSS consists of several elements (with total<br />

weight ranging from 70 to 200kg) <strong>and</strong> adapters, which allow<br />

HSS to be connected to both the hearth <strong>and</strong> smoke pipes.<br />

Heat accumulating HSS elements heat up during the process<br />

of combustion. Next they cool down <strong>and</strong> emit accumulated<br />

heat once the cycle is over. Using HSS system in the installation,<br />

lengthens heating stage of a <strong>fireplace</strong> or stove by<br />

several hours. In effect, the temperatures in heated rooms<br />

are more equaled.<br />

Accumulating mass HSS 07<br />

Accumulating mass HSS 07 consists of five ceramic discs with<br />

a complex duct in the centre. Joints of particular elements<br />

are isolated by means of glass wool rope <strong>and</strong> four bolts.<br />

Made of refractory concrete (with scattered steel rein<strong>for</strong>cement)<br />

<strong>and</strong> magnetite compounds, fitting pipes boost thermal<br />

conductivity <strong>and</strong> heat accumulating capacity.<br />

Accumulating masses<br />

HSS 02 / HSS 03 / HSS 04 / HSS 05 / HSS 08 / HSS 09<br />

HSS elements are made of ceramic mass of magnetite compounds<br />

with apparent density which amounts to 2,82g / cm3<br />

. Depending on the model, the system comprises of three<br />

to seven ceramic fitting pipes <strong>and</strong> a steel adapter which is<br />

customized to particular Jøtul <strong>fireplace</strong> insert.<br />

Considerable freedom in customizing the ultimate shape of<br />

exchanger is one of the greatest advantages of the system.<br />

The user can choose from circular <strong>and</strong> elliptic fitting pipes<br />

with different weight <strong>and</strong> different accumulating capacity.<br />

Due to MgO content, the fitting pipes are mounted on smoke<br />

pipes. Tightness of the installation is provided on particular<br />

segments of pipes.<br />
